Fingers crossed you are wrong on that!

This snow came in so nicely, high moisture content with low wind effects. I'd call it creamy. Maybe there is enough weight in it to step down into that horrid windslab and cause some naturals - that would be cleansing.

Anyway Copper has 5-6" on the stake and I guess it will ski like a foot deep and surfy...

Yeah it sucks. But the Saturday situation is worse, I'm sure. edit - I just checked the website and there is parking available at Copper today, go get it!

After postholing around and skiing a few turns (below treeline), I did see some wind signs on the snow and the softest most fragile little slab, insignificant.

I'm now convinced that we turned a corner today and are finally in peak season.

Ok, yes, it's some snow on one day, but it isn't enough for me to actually admit it's snowing again in CO (except in Aspen.)

If you are planning on skiing Vail this weekend, I’d get in line now. HOLEE SHIT that was insane this morning. Both decks and frontage roads FULL by 9. Line for Gondi 1. Backed up into the village and Lionshead line for Gondi and chair 8 backed up over the bridge. I’ll bet 5 was a disaster

Alright, I'll bitch. Abasin was concrete under the new grabby snow today. It still needs another foot to foot and a half before its "good" again. Zuma was literal ice under the snow. I have no idea how this stuff will bond to it.

The snow was skiing progressively softer and less grabby through the morning. First run right when the lifts spun the snow was slow and grabby for sure. It seemed to get quite a bit better as the day warmed up, even just a couple-tree degrees made a difference. I'm sure the untracked getting tracked helped cut up the grabby wind affected as well.

Damnit I hope that is not so in EV. Already multiple accidents with friends of friends...

Today was good. I took out the Spats to slay 11" at Key where I know the trees. Lines were not that bad.

I was hit from behind, harder than I've ever been hit in my life on skis. I was making little bitty bouncy Spatula turns down an open section of a black run and just started another turn to the left when WHAM on my left side and a CRUNCH on my left arm and I'm suddenly flying down slope and someone is flying through the air with me. BOOF I'm down and sit for a moment, figure out I'm not significantly injured.

I ask the other guy if he is OK. Long pause...
    Idiot: "... I guess so."
Me: "Good. Now... WTF? I was in front of you!"
Idiot: "Uh sorry... I couldn't turn..."
At this point my friends ride up and say, "dude he blew past going so fast!"
Me: "He hit me going so fast too..."
Dude: "Uh I don't know what else to say."
I look at him and his double ejected skis with P18s way up the hill, where we made contact. He is holding his broken ski pole (that he broke on my left arm, which hurt).
Me: "OK then I'll tell you we are lucky we don't have broken bones. So ski in control so you don't kill anyone."
    Idiot: "Um OK."
My friends definitely did not grab his skis for him, so he had to wallow up the hill a ways.

At this point I just stood up because there was pow to ski, so I just kept skiing pow until it was skied up in my tree stashes. I shoulda asked him to buy me a new helmet, but my head didn't start hurting until later.

Home now. Sore all over, mostly my arm though with a pole shaped bruise. Took some naproxen... Gonna need hot tub tonight...
