This sounds interesting for any weather geeks:

    Colorado Mountain Meteorology Workshop

It's put on by the CAIC and is in Leadville Feb 5th. I might try and get work to pay for it. Nothing like getting work to pay for you to go do something cool rather than actually work.

Saw that - I'd go, but for the $100. See if you can get your work to pay for me, too.

What does the 7-10 day forecast look like for Vail? I'm not a weather expert, but the tools I have looked at tell me that days 1-7 aren't very promising for snow. I'll be out there the 17th through the 24th.

Well, the CO forecasts have been known to be wrong a few times...most recently, the last few days

I am going to go on record here saying it will snow before the 22nd

Look at the 5-day HPC ppt totals. If the PNW is showing nothing, then feel free to tack on a few more days for CO.

All signs are pointing to the 22nd or 23rd as the start of more storms.

Any Beta from SS area? My friend said it was hammering last weekend when he drove through, but have they been getting any of the NW CO love lately? I am gonna be up this weekend.

I was there last week and it was pretty damn good... with like 39 inches in 3 days but it warmed up and fucked the snowpack. Since then, I dunno how they've been doing. I'm pretty sure it snowed a little bit, but not much, and this weekend it's supposed to be pretty warm again. I would expect spring conditions

30 and sunny at A-Basin today... more like April skiing than January, but I have to admit- the snow was MUCH better than I thought. Soft everywhere, and no one on the mountain.

I think I'll be mountain biking this weekend.

models have moisture rolling back in and temps getting back to normal on Thurs/Fri. Tuesday looks to be the warmest, perhaps 50 degrees as high as 8100feet. Be glad to see all this go away, more winter please.

I use times like this to get into better shape for when the snow comes back. Lots of hiking

Looks like we fall back into the snow cycle this thursday night although the forecast discussion indicated a fair amount of uncertainty between models going into the weekend. Praise be Ullr!
