my rookie question with Beaver Creek and Southwest: Doesn't Beav do better with West than Southwest? I remember earlier in the Season there were days where Monarch was pounded, a foot a day by the SW stuff and Beav wasn't getting much only a few inches.

My thought is it's unusual for it to snow at Beaver Creek when it's not snowing at all at Vail. Though there are times when Beaver get's more precipitation. SW and West storms can? leave more precipitation on Beaver than Vail. But it doesn't usually amount to the differences of feet we've seen this year between Beav/Vail and CB/Monarch from the Southwest stuff??

PS. This isn't to say I wouldn't be the happiest person around if it snowed feet at Beaver Creek this weekend. I'll be there cutting corduroy and hitting the perfect bumps with a one piece on waiting for my lunch date at Beano's Cabin

the beav normally does a bit better on a SW flow. However, the atmosphere is so prime right now with all the recent activity, that all areas should see pretty good snow regardless of which ones do better on a certain flow. At least that is my thought.

I don't know of a weather pattern that would make it snow at Keystone.

A frozen Lake Dillon would help.

In more important news, who wants to escort me to Monarch on Saturday? I'm feeling optimistic about the strong westerly winds doing their job to make the 6-12 ski like 12-24.

Beav was skiing well today. Fluffier than Vail. Nice everywhere but sunny spots. No graupel on the top at Beav.

warm day today....relative to this past week or so.....high 30s some low 40s. Next storm still on track, looks like another good one.

    THE
CENTRAL MTNS (ELKS WEST ELKS AND MAYBE THE GRAND MESA) LOOKING TO
    GET THE BIGGEST SNOW ACCUMULATIONS.

Doesn't Crested Butte close this weekend?

Same here. Today was the first day that I rarely hit hard bumps in several weeks.

Vail was still really good today...the first three hours were all refreshed with wind and some creamy/fluffy snow.

Good day skiing with Deep Days, as well.
You should have been here yesterday!

Do I detect a lot of anger flowing around this place? Kind of like a pubescent volatility, some angst, a lot of I'm-sixteen-and-angry-at-my-father syndrome?

    fuck that noise.

^^^ I'm skiing with a non-skiing friend tomorrow and Saturday, so I won't be meeting up with any mags most likely.

The concrete family is headed to a little place called Aspen, actually Carbondaleee but close enough. After hell at work for the last couple of weeks I can't wait for the beer to flow like wine.

I need this 160kt jet streak to dive into the back of this low and close it off a bit further south as some of the forecast models suggest.

It'll set up our super secret upslope locale just right.

the CAIC changed Friday Nights wind direction from predicting west yesterday, to S-E. Will this push heavy accumulations towards the front range rather than the western slope??

Probably won't afford lift tickets elsewhere since I have an Epic pass... I'll just have to cross my fingers Vail/Beav gets some goods, but I'm sure wishing I could be at Monarch on Saturday right now...

snowfall forecasts for NoCO mountains look impressive and all forecasts have greatly understated the amount of snow currently moving through.

I just got to breck and it's was absolutely puking by silverthorne and it's snowing pretty hard here. About 2" on the road atm. The snow does seem pretty wet but I'll go skiing and find out for sure. The roads were as slick as I've driven in all winter. Cars were spinning out all over the place and traffic had to come to a complete stop on the I-70 to get around 4 cars stuck in the middle of the road between silverthorne and frisco.

The forecasts really were underdone for the amount of snow today, especially for mountains east of Eagle Co. in the Denver WFO.

I have been seeing the following (weather.gov+accuweather.com+weatherunderground)

all of them seem to have the following averages

    2-4 today
    5-8 tonight
    4-8 saturday

I would say vail/eagle gets 12-16 by saturday night.
    pray

NOAA & Co. have been getting shit wrong all season.
Wondering if I'll be able to drive to Vail tonight.
Sounds like tomorrow's going to be redonkolous.
