I'm really looking forward to driving down into denver tomorrow morning, driving back up here, then trying to drive to LL.

yep, still snowin hard....3 inches at 7850 is my guess. Either place should be good, LL and the Front Range aspect might be better long term due to the upslope. As soon as the winds shift, our snow will taper off.

Needed a little motivation after the last 2 weeks.

Folks...new to the forum but have been putting out these forecasts for the last two seasons (first as an email list, now as a simple blog). I am a meteorologist and obsessed with powder...and have been screwed many times by listening to other forecasts promise more or less snow than what actually came. So I started my own forecasting gig...

Dumping around Vail Pass at midnight, and guessing the morning report will be in the 6-10" range with plenty of good snow everywhere. Check the link below for more...whoever said to get out of the metro early on Thursday was right...if you don't leave by noon-ish or earlier, prolly won't be an easy commute Thurs night or Fri AM if you can get to the mountains at all.

I do think that 2 feet in the central and northern mtns is over done considering northeast flow will shut things down, but a foot is very reasonable.

Nice advice JG. We will see how it pans out. First posts during snow dumps are always a good move. I think the hardcore snow fanatics will appreciate your insight, I certainly have for a while now (your computer models are gooooood). Though I must say there are some pretty advanced weather amateurs that post here. Regardless, please shred Vail for me tomorrow .

Can't wait for tomorrow.... assuming the roads are open.

Going from 75 on the coast to 20" of pow is a nice way to spend the week.

Looks like some significant wind associated with this event. I have real concerns about being able to get up I-70 as far as Empire tomorrow morning.

Come on CDOT! You can do it!

We can hope.. Vail was amazing yesterday, and reported another 12" overnight with another 12-14" forecast today and tonight. I sure hope they can keep 70 open tomorrow.

Already recieved 4" here in Broomfield in the last 2 hours...Pretty heavy and wet. Still coming down hard.

snow moved back in about 5min ago, moderate snow now. I still don't think that another 12 will fall, just not the right winds, but we'll see. Have fun boyz and girlz.

edit: radar returns and the enormous blob to our west is starting to fade out while snow on the front range is starting to gain strength...looks like the winds have shifted.

Woke up to nothing here in Denver, but then around 815, it went from dud to Hiroshima nuclear snow in a matter of seconds. I doubt any flights take off after 10am.

And it looks like the east side of the divide will be hit hardest.

Yup, I was out having coffee in the hot tub this morning with just a dusting on the ground and nothing falling. Then about 20 minutes ago it started coming in heavy with big ole flakes and lots of 'em. I have to be downtown at noon. It's going to be a shit show down there I'm thinking. Parking near Larimer Square and walking into a meeting trying to look professional should be interesting. Is it inappropriate to show up in a suit with hiking boots???

Gonna try to hit Loveland tomorrow. I'll try to drive up from Ft Collins tonight & sleep in the car somewhere - all depends on how far the roads are open.

Or I may drive up early tomorrow... see how things play out.

Looking out of my office in DTC, hot damn it's bombing outside. 100ft visibility max. Haven't seen blizzard snow like this in a while down in the metro.

yep, I am off of Arapahoe and Havana and the roads are INSANELY slippery and jam packed...frigin idiots everywhere.

The forecast is supposed to let up for tonight now, so the roads may be better for an early departure to the high country
You should have been here yesterday!

JUST made it back from the airport, what a fucking shitshow, we made record time of 1/4 mile in 2 hours then said FUCK YOU 70 and went up through golden. For an hour I was sure we were spending the night on 70, 2 foot drift built up in about 5 minutes.

I seriously want to murder every single fucking semi driver that doesn't have chains, there were tens of them just sitting in place with wheels spinning.

Gave every plow driver a big thumbs up.
