Vail needs 1.5-2 feet overnight, unfortunately. Otherwise it just gets skied back to crust. Needs a lot for the base to heal. They don't have chalk like Breck, ABasin and LL. Sometimes windbuff in the bowls can do the trick, but it gets beat really fast. Even sidecountry is pretty bad right now. Probably going to Fruita this weekend.

A patroller friend told me they've had 28" since the big Feb dump....about 5 or 6 weeks.

Hey Makers, how's the mud spot on the Mile?

Reality check please: least coaster here, planning a trip somewhere west for mid to late April, any reason it shouldn't be ABasin? Seems like this would be the year, I haven't read all 500+ pages here but my general sense is it's been a prime season in CO, and there should be plenty to ski all spring. True enough?

Very true. That is A Basins sweetspot...all of the front range will be in road/mtn biking mode so it should be quiet. Bring/buy a small grill and enjoy afternoons on the beach.

A couple years ago I had an epic Easter powder Day there, so new spring snow is very possible.

I think breck released something saying they were planning in staying open an extra week, do that probably is an option as well.

The Basin is skiing really well right now, however, depending on when you come, there may be quite a few resorts still open. Once these resorts close, and the basin is the only game in town, it gets kinda crowded. Either way, there is snow, and the Basin holds it better than anywhere once it gets it.

Loveland also stays open thru April, and will be well worth the visit, especially if one has never experienced chair 9.

Still finding great snow near and above treeline. Hoping we get a refresher similar to Monday-Tuesday system.

Some NW flow on Saturday behind the cold front? It just doesn't look that "cold"....

Last tuesday was one of the best days of the season for me… the great pineapple delivered. A good foot blown in and fresh tracks till mid afternoon. Great way to end the season, nice and cold, no crowds and full winter weather. Mahalo!

It's raining so frickin hard now on Maui you guys are going to get some deep very shortly. Here is what the riding looked like, the duke up to the hubs-

I'm going out of town on the 26th, so there should be a big storm later in the week. Perfect timing.

Being totally selfish, I hope there isn't any storm this coming weekend. My wife is having surgery in Vail and the thought driving back & forth on a shutdown I70 is too unpleasant to imagine.

Yesterday's storm came in wet but the cold overnight temps sucked all the moisture from the snow and today was soft and dry snow all day on N facing aspects at Mass. What a killer day.

After sacrificing the board to the rock gods, I was permitted entry into 2nd Notch.

^^ Real nice. Soft snow all the way to the traverse. The entry is too bony to point it and go!

I don't have the balls to point them from there

We also hiked to 1st Notch. Still nice and soft, but IMO, more rocks to jump over and steer around past the entry.

Over a foot in some spots yesterday in the front range zone. New snow wasn't bonding very well to old sun and wind affected surfaces. Lots of sluffing except for really well protected E facing aspects.
