These forecasts keep getting better and better since early this week. Zirkel Range looks to be hit hard. 3-day HPC is showing 1.5" of ppt. Mid-Mon to Mid-Wed adds another 0.5".

been snowing here all morning. BIG FAT FLAKES, very warm about 33 degrees in Eagle Vail. Cold front should sag through the area this afternoon and temps should fall. We definately needed this storm, very glad to back in a progressive pattern! Makes me feel better to be sitting at home watching it snow outside! Go get some this weekend fellas and provide the Gimp some stoke!

has continued to warm and the last couple of hours just below 8k has been a rain/snow mix. Tomorrow now looks similar to today as far as temps go before we cool off any.

I know you're just laying around and watching an insane amount of ski porn, so give us the afternoon update.

Temporary break here in the storm, 7,850' , Eagle Vail. Not sure how long those silver dollar sized flakes fell in Eagle Vail, but they did for a bit at least!

I'm all for wet thick snow to cover the icy death bumps... I'd be sharpening my edges myself in anticipation, but I lack the skills

Didn't it also snow a ton the night before the Talons Challenge last year?

Also, 6-hour loops show heavy snows throughout the day on Sunday. More snow to follow on Monday.

hey PowTrees, we must live close to each other.

It did snow 8 or 10" before Talons last year as well, hopefully this turns out that good. Nothing happening for awhile but a slug of moisture is just off to the west. Come on temps!

I have a buddy doing the talons challenge. It sounds fun on a powder day, but on an icy death bump day, yeah no so much. I told him I would only go if it was going to be a powder day, looks like it might come through. Are all of the reservations spoken for?

Today was very fun. It is still snowing, and it is pretty heavy and wet down inthe valley, but up high it is great. Snowing in BSB all day. My first few runs today were very challenging with a dusting on top of very firm crust, but it just kept getting better as the day progressed. Was graupeling pretty hard when I left, we definitely need this.

Closer to sunset it's feeling kinda midwestern. Not snow or rain, but possibly whiter than good ole Chicago... wait, wait, it's turning flaky white again... hoping the nighttime temps help, the upper 20's is good for snowing

I bet we do live close Montana, have to take make some turns and ski home down thourgh the golf course someday!

Sadly, for me saturday is looking like a Vail day. My bet is for more (soft) snow up high. But then again, I'd go with Beav accumlating more from SW to Westerly stuff... Those NWesterly storms crush Vail

I'll put in my snow dance for the Gore's grabbing this moisture...

Visty Early?? Graupel's not my favorite, but I'm jonesin hard enough, unlikely I'll be able to sleep past sunrise saturday

It was dumping hard at LL on my way back an hour or so ago- but again, it was big fat wet flakes. Could be a good base of snow on top of the crap that's been freezing every night for the last week.

A-Basin had some decent conditions despite their 1" report this morning- was more like 4" or so of wet snow. It was warmer on the top of LL pass than it is here in Denver.

PowTrees- Wife is skiing Vail on Sat. I am recovering from ACL surgery on Monday thus done. She skied home last week and said it was ok, kinda fast.

Looks like a dry slot right behind this little burst. Weird weather day in the mtns.

Especially, for January. The Aspen mountains picked up about 3-6" today with a rain/snow mix and no accumulation at the base.

Lots of moisture and dynamics for this afternoon through Monday morning. Flow a bit unfavorable, but Bert has proved it can do well.

really weird that WP,Bert, Grand County has done the best and were not included in the Winter Storm Warning. Temps are still the issue obviously. Just like Funken said no accumulating snow at all in the valleys or at the base in Eagle County. We got the moisture, can a brother get a cold front please?

Well, it didn't precipitate much in the Valley at 7,800'. Last night when I was in west Vail it didn't precipitate much during the night. This morning the weather starting to look up though and it's snowing nicely at 7,800'... Could be nicer afternoon than morning for makin turns...

Rontele and fireweather had it pegged. Storm track has been just north of I70 all day. Looks like Bert and WP getting hit the most again. Cloudy and warm in Eagle County, snow melting as fast as it fell at 7800.

Lots of snow up high today. The morning was great and then around 12:30 it got warm down low and started raining at the base.

yeah the wife reported the snow above at least 10k was pretty good. The W Vail trees down and said it was GLOP and GLUE down lower. Just a weird warm pattern. Big fat snow is fun to watch fall, rain....not so much.

Pretty incredible baroclinic makeup of this storm with the heavy snows falling right along the line of the best jet support with areas to the south remaining warm.

No accumulating snow in the valley but up high... It was snowing nice and steady all day in BSB and especially outer Mongolia, it was puking at times. Not the lightest snow ever, but it is covering that crust up nicely.
