16" more at Steamboat this morning...

..on top of a whole bunch from yesterday.

Temps have been rising for the last 24 hours and its up to 14 degrees at 10K. It was graupeling out at 5am when I took this picture at mid-mountain but has since turned back into steady snow.

Be careful on the steeper stuff today. I dont know how this wetter snow is going to sit on all the 3% shit from yesterday.

Really strong NW flow setting up through today. WFO Denver just upgraded the WWA to a WSW. Both Berthoud and Loveland Passes are currently closed. Berthoud will get the brunt with upwards of 18 new inches.

Too bad I have a client meeting tomorrow morning...

Also, another advisory level snow event looks on tap for this friday. After that, it is hard to say what is going to happen. Persistent NW flow with the mean jet just north of the state. Really depends on where the west coast ridge sets up, but this proved to be a very favorable pattern for the NoCen mountains earlier this season...

It is DUMPING right now. I woke up to maybe 8" of new and it hasn't stopped - probably another 4 - 6 in the last 4 hours. Crazy big huge fat flakes coming down outside the window.

You just made my day better...

Skiing with the flu should be great tomorrow if this keeps up.

holy crap it's windy in SW Denver. CAIC wx stations on bert & loveland show very strong winds - not so much on Vail Pass - is that accurate? Not much wind over there?

Very calm all day in Leadville. Even up at treeline, I experienced unusually low winds!!!

Skiing, whether you're in Wisconsin or the Alps, is a dumbass hick country sport that takes place in the middle of winter on a mountain at the end of a dirt road.

i found that these are useless when there is lots of wind. I'm pretty sure the steamboat zone is looking at two feet plus at this point.

Its best to look not at snow totals but precipitable water.

I'm not sure where it's at, you can get the lat-long at the snotel website. Snow totals are not super reliable from these, but they seem to give a general idea what locations got more snow than others. Of course when they don't have readings as the Vail and Loveland area stations, it's definitely useless.

It was super deep today after work. My car got face shots pulling into my driveway and the I got a couple face shots skiing - almost up to the waist in some drifted spots.

It was still coming down when we left around 3:30.... not dumping like it was all day, but snowing pretty hard nonetheless.

    Tomorrow will be real good.

It was nuclear winter on Berthoud Pass this morning. It snowed continuously from about 6:30 until I left around 9:00 (still snowing). No wind until around 8:30. Good accumulation and we were skiing boot - calf deep much of the morning.

    ^^^ MEH.

Flurries and an occassional shower is all.

Looks very not stormy til at least Sunday. Tuesday should be the warmest day with temps in the low to mid 40s perhaps at 8k.

afternoon models looked a little better. Doesn't look like it will get quite as warm as earlier thought, I certainly hope not. Also a small chance for a couple of inches tonight.
