Chicago Ridge makes Vail look steep, FYI. It's very deceptive from afar.

This is like hanging yourself but the rope breaks. - DTM
Dude Listen to mtm. He's a marriage counselor at burning man. - subtle plague
We should golf up there one day. Or maybe on Sherman.
No one goes to Cooper for the steeps, that's for sure, and no amount of terrain expansion is gonna change that. Good little community hill though.
I heard the rope tow is wicked steep, does that count?
If it's the pub I remember, it's awesome. Tiny little thing in one of the lodges yeah?
the taproom is the newish building there and probably what SS is talking about. Been there 3 or 4 years now. There is also a small irish bar in the main lodge. terrible bloodies, live and learn, but still a great bar to hang at.
Nordorkers building across the parking lot has a small bar, big fireplace, 3 person rocking chair on the back deck, usually has some kind of mulled wine or other alcoholic casserole.
Where is a good place to stop between Arapahoe and DEN right nowfor a quick tasty eats that won’t break the bank?
Thanks, man! Just what I was looking for.![]()
"A born-and-raised Coloradan died after falling from a chairlift. His mom wants a state law requiring restraint bar use."https://www.summitdaily.com/news/colorado-state-law-requiring-restraint-bar-chairlift-fall-death-keystone/Here we go...
He wasn't intoxicated, drugged-up, messing with his binders, or on his phone, so what happened? Divine intervention?
I can go either way, but would rather not have it mandated.
Rode up with a Doctor last season, that had this advice.
If you have a heart attack, with the bar down, you might survive.
If you fall out, you're probably a goner.
Twenty plus years ago the mountain manager of Winter Park fell and died from one of the short double chairs at the base area, which didn't have any safety bar. It was determined that it was a seizure, something he hadn't had before. Always kind of freaked me out. I wouldn't care one way or the other if bars were required. I've probably gotten more used to it since all the Vail employees in uniform have to put the bar down. When I was skiing in S Korea, we'd get yelled at if we didn't put the bar down in under two seconds, it almost became a fun game for us though. And the new super nice six pack chairs with the heated seats and everything in Europe have automatic bars, so there's no choice in the matter.
But muh freedumbs!

"everybody's got their hooks into you, fuck em....forge on motherfuckers, drag all those bitches across the goal line with you." - (not so) ill-advised strategy
I couldnt care less if the bar is required or not, or down or not. Im confused by people who hate having it down, unless they are snowboarders who can get comfy with it down. And they should ski anyway.
Four or five years ago watched a 10 year old girl in the chair ahead of me fall about 30 feet. Bar not down. She started to get up but a guy yelled at her to stay still. Father was in chair ahead of hers. I guess she made it but it sure made a believer out of me. The seizure thing mentioned above could happen to anyone. In the little girls case, she caught her skis on a tower pole somehow.
Small forest fire in Taylor Park today. It's been pretty wet so I'd like to think it won't grow. But that's one forest that looks ready to go some day..

I cared for a 6yo who fell out of a chairlift 20ft to groomer at Granby Ranch. She ended up being OK but scary.

Bar down is good, but do it carefully after announcing your intentions. As a tallish person, I have been hit in the helmet so many times by fast bar tossers.
