Not sure any weekend is a good weekend to catch the flu - YMMV

Did go and spin some laps at the basin, funny it was a paid parking day as the early riser was maybe a quarter full if that. Didn’t feel too terrible for the first few laps then the toes and hand started to go cold but it helped that the sun was out.

Generally I won't even tour on a super cold day, and if I do I dumb it way down. It kills communication- "Does this look good?" "Yeah, sure, whatever, I'm freezing my ass off." Not to mention a frozen skin or a broken binding can quickly threaten your fingers or toes, or worse.

Not a great weekend for a hut trip but what are you gonna do? Skiing was questionable but we ate well.

Looks like we flipped into an inversion, already -5 at the top of abasin. But not a great time for all of silverthorne to lose power…

East aspect was a bit wind loaded yesterday, soft turns, there was even a little sunshine. Aaaaand we're back to subzero.

the skiing off Len yesterday was good, pali kinda meh, and firm with a dusting on top out in zuma bowl (idk what al's blog was talking about, maybe east zuma). I did notice they had the steep gullies open yesterday afternoon but didn't venture in there. could go for a refresh cycle, maybe cover some more rocks in a couple key places, and slightly less cold.

Breck high alpine is skiing quite awesome, yesterday was one of the better ones. Pretty dang smooth everywhere right now so the 4-6 inches that fell felt bottomless.

Also, have to run back to town to grab someone and then back out to the area. How is the highway on a Friday around 5PM? Terrible?

Traffic? Tell them to take the bus or STFU. You're looking to flex on your guests ahead of time. This is not the way. Go on ski vacation and be 100% stoked.

This ain't rat race commuter traffic. Leave that bullshit wherever the fuck you are from. So what if it takes you an hour to roundtrip downtown from the ski area after the lifts are closed.

Look into Bustang or shuttles. Friday at 5pm is about the worst time to do anything on the roads besides Saturday at 9am or Sunday at 4pm.

I guess I have no idea what run back to town means. I was going with Steamboat Ski Area to Steamboat Downtown but who the fuck knows.

I'm in the market for new alpine skis and boots and would like to take 3-4 combos out for the day to see what works. Any slope side shop recommendations at WP or Copper mountain that you all recommend?

boots seems like it would be tough but copper has some pretty nice demo skis in their main shop/ rental spot out of center village that I have noticed just walking through there.

abasin was skiing real nice today, not a fully smooth windbuff but pretty smooth and chalky down spine and face. they have done a bunch of weird grooming through Norway and apg, almost wish they wouldn't do that til spring because the skiing in real nice in there as is but whatever.

If you can make it the Breck and come to Slope Style, I'd probably let a mag take a few pairs with them to Copper for a good price. Lemme know
