That would be much more horizontal than vertical, across the nordic meadow there. You wouldn't have to break trail at all.

Didn’t know about that cut around from alpine 2. Very nice, those busses drive me insane they drive so slow.

Black bear and free fall are basically narrow runs cut through the trees. Skiers left of free fall is just way too tight to really ski most of the time, black bear offers a little more opportunity to cut in and out of the ‘trail’ I feel like. Don’t ski in there as much as I used to. East side has always been my favorite but I’ve really come to like lapping Tucker, good pretty no nonsense vert

Agree on Tucker, also north aspect ftw. It's just sometimes I like to show up and do laps and leave, be efficient, not all the way back and forth. Super Bee and the east village bus are efficient.

It occurred to me that there might be a construction road leading to the base of Alpine chair where you wouldn't even need to wander around the nordic area. Gotta look at it.

I haven't gone off black bear and free fall open lines although there are some options weaving through that I ski, just go down looking to keep a rhythm...

Love arctic cold. Deep turns in the high alpine and zero people out.

wanted to feel what some real cold weather felt like so made some laps at the basin this morning, pali weather station was reading around -6. actually didn't feel too terrible (even with the wind) but don't think I would have lasted more than the 2 hours I was out there without a bunch of breaks. snow skied great in the more sheltered areas, the more exposed areas wanted to rip you off your skis, people were struggling down pali face/ spine. I'll have to see if braving the -9 high on monday is worth it. getting my boots off was a struggle. stay warm!

Snowmass was cold with up to 5" of very slow snow. Sun came out about 10 and was quite pleasant.

Hitting Aspen Mountain, riding the gondola and skiing expert runs for the real cold spell.

I hear you. I also miss parking on the beach by pali chair. I miss a lot of stuff - maybe it's a sign of getting old. Feeling like more is behind you than in front of you.

But usually there's a lot of great stuff happening and to come in life. Just need to take a sec and look around. For me, Copper is an exciting mountain and there's ways and means to get around the bottlenecks. It's better than Keystone and Breck combined with a hint of A Basin and Loveland and I wouldn't trade.

I don't know what Alpine will look like when the new base area is done. But it might be awesome and I might be willing to pay to park there, too bad I can't afford a condo.

Just musing as I sit here with a stiff knee, hahaha. Good timing with the cold I guess.

Got the doggo out for a little jog and squirrel chase. Very peaceful. Groomed last night and not a single track/footprint on the entire nordic loop behind the college. I was sweating too.

Yup, was cold on Tbar this morning. Must’ve been a big wind event last night, big wind slab slid in the bowl. Made any soft snow from yesterday quite sticky as well.

According to weather stations on the CAIC page it is currently even more brutal than that. It’s my day off and having a hard time sitting still so we’ll see if I trick myself into thinking it is a good idea. Looks like they have zuma and beavers closed today with this cold.

Poking around local weather stations, this is one of the few times when the real cold isn't an inversion- it's warmer in the valley than at mountaintop.
