Absolutely correct. Mirkwood Basin is in the lower center of that pic, to the left of the green expansion area and below the existing red lift lines. You can see the egress road that goes back to the base.

Also, FB/IG post indicated that they'll be putting in a fixed-grip triple, which is so on brand and I for one could not be more stoked about it.

NNW aspect. Skiers right was known as the 3 week glade as it would hold nice powder skiing for days after a storm. The timber crew has there work cut out for them. (pun intended)

I am riding the Triple Bypass on Saturday. How bad am I going to roast going through Frisco and then through Vail? Probably between 11:00am-2:00pm
I did a training century 3 weeks ago when road temps hit 100. That was, umm, unpleasant. But 80 in the mountains is kinda like 100 in Denver.

Do all the Front Rangers come to the mountains to beat the 100s or do they double cross themselves and stay in the AC? Has a Tacoma towing a NOBO overweight blown up on Floyd Hill yet?

Like Texans that come to breck and complain their airbnb doesn't have AC since they're so used to sitting indoors with it blasting freezing air.

When I owned an airbnb in Avon this was the funniest thing to me. People would show up and immediately call me asking where the AC was and they thought someone left the heat on. We had to leave directions that told them to open the windows and turn on the fans. 30 seconds and the place was cooled down.

You'll be very warm. I did it last year and it was pretty seasonal/pleasant, and my garmin was still recording 95F in the sun coming into Avon. It's easy to get to the top of Vail Pass and neglect hydration/nutrition because you're on the final stretch. Don't.

A/C in the mountains should go in the "shit that annoys you" thread.

People ask me all the time about AC when I'm showing property. I'm seeing it more and more, especially in higher end spec homes, even though CB probably has 10 or fewer days above 80 every year. I can definitely see it for allergy sufferers who want the windows shut when pollen is flying around everywhere.

Yep, A/C is getting retrofit in many home also. The funny thing is, the baller heat set up is in floor radiant. But now you can Energy Recovery Ventilators and all the range hoods and make up air and fart fans and circulation units and all tied in and on the smart home. So basically you end up with a forced system no heat or AC. And they all have the giant 30'x9' doors to the deck or patio that they leave open all the time and this high end ice makers that constantly refresh the ice but hey...they recycle and drive and EV.

I have been looking into Heat pump that also does ac since we got solar last year. Is that something that exists? Heat would be infloor radiant but would need another unit for ac?

Yes - most heat pumps do both heating and cooling.

Speaking of, someone was kind enough to set green mountain on fire in boulder this morning. 102 with single digit humidity, hopefully winds stay reasonable

Better get down to City Market and stock up on milk eggs and toilet paper just in case

No clue what heat pump option exist for in-floor radiant heat but for a forced air system, an air-to-air heat pump is essentially just an A/C unit acting in reverse. So most if not all of them can run in either heat or cool mode.

That's what we had installed last year to go with our solar. Had the conventional A/C unit pulled and replaced with a heat pump. Left the propane furnace to both act as the air handler and provide backup when it's too cold for the heat pump to run effectively. Between the heat pump and the solar it's saving us over $3k/yr in utilities.

The struggle is real. The grocery store window is basically Tuesday to Thursday afternoon. Monday has no food and its overrun by Thursday evening. I usually go about 6:30. Seriously.
