5* chalk on the steeps in CB, it's about as good as it gets without new snow. But I want new snow.

CBAC bumped the danger up today due to the heat- I don't think I've seen that in January before.

It’s going to be 60 again today. I’ve never dusted off my mountain bike in January before. [emoji24][emoji24][emoji24]

My wife had a bad habit of stepping out of her skis and leaving them on the snow just wherever. A couple of times they weren't where she left them...and not together. I let her know someone was trying to teach her a lesson. Finally on a very crowded day at a mid-mtn lodge they were no where to be found and she had to download. Tracked them down a couple of days later and dude says they were stuffed under the deck of spruce saddle. A lesson I could not teach.

I was skiing the in town rope tow last night. The area entrance was littered with kids skis from just this while all the cool mtn town parents were standing there oblivious the mess.

Total shit show but I can put up w/ it for some after work turns.

Never put mine away this year... but the weather this week is moneysauce for an afternoon pedal on the local hill.

Yep, was thinking the same thing this past weekend......we need some wind to buff those bumps out.

I was telling my buddy to watch out for the hudge bumps at the top of Pali and he thought I was being a smartass till he proceeded to blow up trying to ski the cornice. Haha. Good times

I just built up a new one last night... perfect timing for a few days of test rides before the next storm rolls in!

Hey E, where do you ski these days? A Basin?

Anyway, above treeline north facing ftw, chalky steeps. Think horseshoe bowl at Breck...that's always fun.

I was gonna take my skis in for base work, but I tagged some more rocks today. Still feels like low tide. Super nice to ski a quiet mountain, peaceful.

I don't see any skis and the snow looks so far away.

Aaaand I'm quoting myself, haha. Just thinking about horseshoe bowl facing east, not north. But still chalky I bet?

industry demo going on at loveland, skiing okay off chair 1 but everything else is already in the cycle of needing to get warmed up first to be decent. Even skied my first bit of slush for the season on the Face below chair 8.

Apparently chair 9 opens today, feel sorry for some of the reps as they're going to definitely have folks bringing back demo skis with some big ol coreshots haha

    Wanker Park Report....meh

I skied the Cirque because it has been a couple of years. It's still stupid. Conditions are good but not enough skiing, to much commuting.

Otherwise, groomers are nice. One day we may actually act World Class (tm) and groom the whole mountain everyday.

Off Piste. Totally manageable and fun but not soft. We don't really have much S and W so minimal slush.

Still primo chalk conditions on the steeps here, you even get a bit of sluff going with you.

Could be worse, that's for sure. Not just warm but pissing rain in BC and other places...

Toured E facing in Summit yesterday - it's been a surface hoar factory up high. Lots of loud pow on a supportable slab BTL. Sluffy.

I had a pass for a couple years back when they first opened the Cirque, but after one lap (8-10 turns) I never went back there. Looks cool on a trail map but that's it. Pretty worthless area.

The juice up there usually isn't worth the squeeze but very occasionally is. It's a nice walk at least.

Yep - I've had a WP pass since the late '90's and went back there with a mate when it first opened and never went back again. Probably is a *bit* better with Eagle Wind in there, but hasn't been enough to entice me back.

From my house, it takes the same about of time to do one lap of the Cirque as it does to tour up Russel. And I don't mind the 15min. skate. Yesterday there was nobody around, the weather and views were amazing, I had a somewhat cold Coors Latte on the Eagle Wind, rocked out to some good tunes. Objectively, it was great. But the skiing was meh.

Looks like WP and WC will possibly get big, warm dumps with these next two cycles.

It is a SHITTON better with Eagle Wind there.

Last year, I was up there on a day where new snow had come maybe 3 or 4 days prior, it was a little warm down below, bluebird, and walking out to the Cirque was beautiful, and the snow was miles better than anything anywhere else on the mountain. Sure, it was only 10 turns more or less, but they were ten turns in steep/deep, and it left with me with the warm fuzzies for the rest of the day.

Gotta pick your spots with the Cirque, that's for sure.

That's good to know... perhaps I should try it some time again.
