Abasin passes have three extra days at Monarch, but I just found out that those are blacked out on weekends till March. This seems to be a new thing, maybe I'm wrong, but WTF? I don't remember this being the case in past seasons, or even this season until they posted it recently.

Blackout dates apply every Saturday & Sunday starting from the Jan. 6-7 weekend through the Mar. 3-4 weekend

Thanks for the input, glad to see I'm not the only one worried they're gatekeeping what used to be my go to at that mountain. I'll be at Breckenridge tomorrow for leftovers, ski ya at the t-bar.

Man, we all know how it was yesterday but it was seriously like a country club kind of day in Breck. Did a good 6 or 7 untracked laps on super connect with zero lines. Then Tbar only had maybe a 1/4 of a corral on each side of the line at most when it opened, and when there was a line it was all locals/friends. Didn't open up the shop til 1, would've gone longer but I'm absolutely cooked from skiing so much the past week. It said I did 26k vert and 23 lift rides (some were half tbar laps) yesterday on the silly epic mix app haha

Yeah Boo! Same in my next of the woods. I had thought is was Country Club because the pass was closed but apparently I was wrong about that.

Here is another, to me, interesting thing. Honest to goodness windbuff was setting up on The Park Side around lunchtime. I've always assumed we don't get that, when compared to The Cottonwoods or even Steamboat, because out snow is too light and not enough of it?

I think it's parking. Lots full on weekend. Shuttling from the overflow 2 miles up the pass. I try not to ski weekends unless there's a big dump then get there early.

Too bad, last weekend I chatted with the liftie that usually loads chairs there and he was optimistic on it opening soon. Probably Saturday so us frangers can put the bumps in all wrong

Well the Cirque Jerks like nothing more than to get away from the General Public and go do there thing with bombs and dogs and so on.

I'd love to stoke the fire of the marketing conspiracy but reality is that weekend staffing with volunteer patrol and additional ops personnel enables terrain openings. But I have no idea about the Bird Fart this weekend and I've been wrong a lot lately.

Yesterday was bizarre...."where is everyone"? I'll take it.

Summit County snowpack just jumped from 65% of median to 105% of median in the last 10 days. It's nice to be back on track.

Sorry not sorry for the rant. Like I said a few pages back, there is a silver lining to how the mtn skis now. But there's no denying a collective group of people mourning the loss of the canyon, being able to ski it how and when we wanted. Those days are gone so we have to pour one out and move on but easier said than done some days. The changes to this place have been drastic in such a small amount of time. Anyhoo.. missing this cycle has been a thorn in my side. I do appreciate all the stoke pics and hope to contribute again soon.

It was near ready to go and then the traverse got wind scoured. Not sure if it filled in enough post wind event to consider it this weekend.

Yeah, the Basin parking lot wasn't even half full when I got there at 10a. Skied onto the lift all morning. Lots of stupidity happening on the roads around the county yesterday though. ugh!

Is this coming weekend the Snowsculptures/Xgames weekend that always has crazy traffic?

Saw some abhorrent behavior from Breckenridge employees today. The mountain is absolutely over-run by tourists though so I can understand how they feel they can behave that way. The poor employees all seemed grumpy or down right rude, please hype up your lifties or any employee you see.

Back in Iowa after a quick five day wobbly legged powder misson to CB. You guys sure do have it good down there. Not sure how we lucked out but shit happens good and bad and skiing is fun either way. 285 was a bit sketch on the way home, but otherwise the roads in Iowa were our biggest challenge.

That place still makes us feel welcome, same as it always did.

Same week last year to Utardia was the traffic nightmare. CB just walk to the hill for the same price and no lift lines.

We definitely lucked out on the pow cycle and terrain openings. Even the wife got pitted.

Nice Ugly! Like to see the families skiing. Interesting about the price. You are saying that a vaca to CB is comparable to a vaca in SLC?

We booked the room at the Grand in August or September. Non refundable but almost 50% off. Maybe 40%. Dog friendly. Like $200 per night?

Maybe a little more than staying at a Hyatt in SLC, but not by much. And no commute or parking worries.

Ranks with the hostel at JH or staying up at Targhee for incredible budget dog friendly digs.

The Grand Lodge is often a very good deal, especially if you book through someone with an Epic Pass. You guys knocked it out of the park with that storm. Glad you made it home in one piece.
