Tough to say, we were on the other side of the highway. But it didn’t look like enough coverage from there, the ridgeline is still pretty windswept down pretty far. Depending on what this small storm (snowing now, easterly flow) does I might go poke around there in the next few days.

The hybrid WFR I just did includes access to all of the online material, I believe for the life of the Cert. Definitely something I should remember to take advantage of.

I'm pretty sick of not getting much snow around here.

Parry and the Bearclaw was looking good today. Also, the west side of the Indian Peaks and Rocky Mtn NP look caked from the last storm.

So weird, 2" here and nothing at Copper.

Now the paper has a full article about the CPR close call I mentioned above- it's worth a read for sure. Holy crap. https://crestedbuttenews.com/2023/12...day-and-orion/

yeah, not a fan of how much ice is in town right now as a result. Wifey is still recovering from breaking the her radial head in her elbow biking this fall and is terrified to fall right now.

I will say the skiing yesterday really wasn't too bad though, low sun angle is keeping it soft and cold enough.

Over delivered down south for sure. ~12" in silverton that came straight down with zero wind at all. Been a while since I've seen that. We might finally have a base with only two weeks till things open up around here

Here is my instructors suggested small first aid kit. I take this any time I'm more that a minute from the truck. Bleeding is the #1 cause of preventable trauma death.

Well fucking done by that group. I know a lot of those names through friends of friends. You never know when you are going to need rescue and first aid skills but that group did a fantastic job.

On the topic of what to have in your first aid kit I would highly suggest adding more gauze than your ever would think you might need. The biggest first aid failure of my group in my accident was that we couldn't actually pack my wound well enough to slow the bleeding. Those little gauze pads in over the counter first aid kits ain't shit when you have real traumatic bleeding in the field.

Lot of lessons here. I ski solo a lot or BC with my dogs. That terrain looks innocuous. I found the patrollers saying you're doing great and the nurse jumping in on resuscitation amusing as a nurse who volunteered with patrol for decades. Thin line between life and death there is. Coverage looks pretty good, might have to head over for a couple laps.

They opened parts of west wall and horseshoe yesterday. It was fun getting on something steep.
