Gondi opens at Wanker this afternoon I think (March Hare>Village Way). Nice to see some winter.

See this was the problem at Copper last week, lack of terrain opening, even though the guns were blasting 24/7. I felt quite impatient, the available snow was much overskied, imo.
There is more easy terrain open to the west today, stepping stone to the steeps - I have high hopes for the coming week! I think I'm gonna hike for turns this weekend and let the crowds have at it inbounds. I guess there will be some soft turns and rope drops midweek, fingers crossed. Anyway we are over the early season hump now, thank Ullr.

I definitely misread that snow stake, their time lapse thing messes me up sometimes.
anyways also hoping the heavy part of the storm comes in as forecasted and that this will allow for some new terrain. Also hope it maybe lingers around later into tomorrow since I won't be skiing until monday
Me too, I have very high hopes for Monday, even though I can't make first chair. Maybe I should try to make first chair, will consider.
The thing is, first chair is a little frustrating with the people that get to load half an hour early or whatever, including people loading through the race line (that are not racers!) Later in the season it'll be so much easier to find good lines that aren't already chewed up.
I'm finally gonna get on fatter skis too, oh yes, that will be fun. No more groomer edging drills for me!

I have such mixed feelings about the whole early season race thing at copper but it really messes up the whole big side. When I was at copper last Monday I did not see them blowing anything over off timberline but hopefully that opens soon, earlyish season is the only time I enjoy riding that lift.
Well it was a lot better than not skiing. Pretty much just March Hare>Lower Phipps nice soft snow and not too much mayhem. Sounds like the new snow making system is working well.
Bama beat #1 so snow should stop around midnight. Hope yall like a good old fashioned drought.
So the whole Birds of Prey weekend pretty much got fucked? Or do they move the races to tomorrow and Tuesday?
blowing like a MF out there.
Yeah I was salty until this season when Loveland didn't even get open early so I didn't feel like I was missing out at Copper. And you gotta admit Rhapsody/Main vein is pretty nice as far as wrod goes, good vert and good pitch.
IIRC, they open west side terrain pretty thin, little treetops poking up everywhere on the groomers. I am guessing they will start opening a lot of terrain as fast as they can now and we will even hear avy control work this week. Yeah!
Racers gone by mid Dec?
I did a little hiking with my doggo this morning, a few turns, she gets so excited when I bring skis, hahaha. Wind signs everywhere, but soft snow. Interesting because some places are scoured and some are super loaded and maybe more south loading than a person might guess.
Anyway, lotta snow and still coming, gotta love it!

Any word on when Super Gauge will open at WP?
Not soon. Seriously.

24” for Winter Park this weekend should help.
I heard from patrol that they will be trying to get Marry Jane trail open for Saturday. I would not expect much else except for maybe rainbow cut.

Patrol was working to get Len Parks open when Lenawee went on wind hold. Didn’t stick around to wait and see if it would open back up.
Good to hear i didnt miss it. I assumed it would happen. We went xc skiing in zuma. So boring. But purdy.
Seemed to be a great base building snow event. Hopefully this should help a ton more terrain open. Vail pass looked caked today.
Well. Sounds like it happened. Ah well.
Saw that a friend went poking around a mellow zone off Monarch Pass this morning. He reported lots of whumphs and cracks, and it looked like if where he was skiing was any steeper it might have (probably would have) slid. Parroting Foggy Goggles: Be educated, pay attention, make good decisions. As for me, we've still got (mostly) dry dirt so I'm riding. I guess I'll ski Wednesday, if I have to.
