Turns out water sports are the move right now (who knew). Pretty mindblowing mini float this past weekend - I never do this stuff but right now it's the best option if available. Anonymous neighborhood moto hater successfully sabotaged my ride attempt yesterday, maybe for the best given the dust. Gonna seek out more little hidden beach zones until monsoon makes 2 wheeled sports great again.

Been spotty here. downpour in snowmass but not much in aspen. Rains hard in Basalt but nothing 4 miles away in my neighborhood....

Looking forward to a little monsoon reset.

Right? Shifted gears from biking 3x/week to downriver SUP on the weekends. I’ve been debating driving to paddle the local whitewater park some weeknights. Can’t quite find the motivation yet though.

I mean, I don't mind powdery moondust that much, it's skiddy-drifty almost freeride fun!

Yeah, moondust can be sort of fun but so is tacky dirt.

Fire up mill creek between CB and Gunnison. It was just a matter of time

Already up to 700 acres. I was worried last night when the storms rolled through.

A fire felt inevitable at this point. Fingers crossed the rain pans out. We had light sprinkles this morning as I was drinking my coffee

Agree, kinda surprised it didn't happen weeks ago with how dry and hot it's been in the upper ark valley. Saw what looked like a large thunderhead building yesterday afternoon, but no precip. Fingers crossed that changes.

    Punch it, Chewie.

Camped up Cement Creek last weekend and there was a smoldering fire at a neighboring campsite, so annoying that people can't figure out how to put out their campfire before they leave. Lowline fire was probably lightning at least.

    Yeah dude people are stupid

I cleaned the campsite next to me last weekend. Nice enough old guy but his garbage was left in the fire pit and he left up these fly traps that were getting filled with bugs not just flys. Dude let nature be nature. Go back to Texas with your ignorant ass.

Y'allqueda wreaking havoc one campsite at a time. Seeing more one-star plates than I ever have, it's only getting worse, like cockroaches escaping the inferno.

Doing my rain dance, it's been pushing above 90 for past few days at 7500+ft. Every storm that builds seems to dry up/fizzle out by the time it gets here, nothing but lightning. Small fire behind the house past few days, thankfully growth was stopped thanks to Morgan Creek burn scar from a few summers ago but it's still smoldering along with my anxiety.

Think about how stupid the average person is... and then realize 50% of humans are dumber than that.

I saw a post recently of a small wildfire that had been ignited just west of Colorado Springs by an insufficiently extinguished campfire. People indeed are stupid.

Thank you for adding this to my vocabulary.

Though around here, the yokels do as much or more damage than the tourists. Last year the BLM kicked out a squatter in the area we are building new trails. He retaliated by dumping his black tank as he left. I did hear he was caught and fined at least.

Yeah, locals are often part of the problem as well. And yes, big fan of the vocabulary addition of Y'allqueda.

Looking at the updated Lowline fire outline, I wonder if a giant baller house I worked on when I was in construction burned. It sure looks like it. They own The Container Store.

I know they are prioritizing structure defense. How's the smoke in CB today? I was planning to head over there for the weekend, but I'm reconsidering my plans.

I'm in Denver today, where it actually rains. The wife said it was fine up in Mt CB but looked worse down in CB South fwiw.

Edit to add: Sounds like the house I was worried about was saved by 150' so far

    Good one Jax.

Ran into some dipshits from the lonestar state parking in the bullpen at work this morning. CO plates on their jeeps but the accent and attitude was a give away. Everyone else can figure out not to park there while staff is busy getting ready for the day…

I also learnt PAVE’rs (people against virtually everything) from trg’s this week.

Theres been a few showers here in swco today w/ storms building now.

None to speak of in Mt. CB or up Cement Creek. Still plenty of dust. Town smelled rainy and streets were wet when I got back from my ride so the situation has probably improved by ~1.2%

Saw the roof piece of a lift terminal being trucked westbound over Wolf Creek Friday, anyone know where it was headed?
