was almost done building my ark then the sun shined 69 days later![]()
Didn’t get a pic as I was driving by but Torreys north face is impressively caked in white.
Whoa, just heard a big hailstorm hit Red Rocks tonight, breaking car windows, bruising people, some broken hands. Tennis ball sized hail in Evergreen as well.
Ouch that’s hardcore.

I wonder who is going to sue Red Rocks first.

It was an outstanding evening in the RFV.
Did it rain/storm in the high country at all? Denver’s crushing the rain record for June.

nothing in scummit county
clouded up late in the day then broke up quickly but otherwise a stellar day
From West Metro Fire: “UPDATE: Red Rocks hail storm- 7 people transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. A total of 80 to 90 people treated on scene. Injuries include cuts and broken bones. Sporadic hail still coming down in Morrison area”
That's some gnarly hail, someone at red rocks messed up having that many people get caught out in the open right? They usually have people take shelter pretty quick when the radar shows a big cell coming through.
Cool light show from up north even if my poor pup hated it.
Where would an entire crowd from Redrocks take shelter?
Sometimes shit just happens and it is nobody's fault. Its not as if hail causing injury is exactly common. 99% of the time a gust front blows through and cools it down, and then people get back to their White Claws.
They usually send people to their cars. I've had to run through a much smaller hail storm to seek shelter during a show before, it is tough to get back to your car quick at red rocks. This one must have blown up fast. They gave the all clear on twitter like 15 minutes before this storm rolled in. Just awful luck overall.

cool picture
nice pic FG. hell of a storm layer over the range.
If that's 99% of the time, it's maybe <5% of the time that the NWS puts out a Severe Weather Warning that doesn't verify. Which is the situation last night.
Watches have a much lower verification percentage. Typical evening monsoonal gusts and rains don't even get watches.
It was a wild ride.
Fire station and rec center got a little banged up.
Lot of tree and fence damage, I’m in the fence business, going to be a busy summer.

Glad I didn’t high tail it out there to see my buddy immediately, holy shit that’s some weather. Checked out that guy’s twitter page and there’s more crazy pics and videos.
The majority missed downtown, but for a minute, it looked like it was going to be a big one. No hail, light rain, but still a good amount of lightning.
Absolute fucking smack your forehead story...I currently live in a 12 story high rise in Cheesman that they started to do renovations on over the last 6 months. This months project is to repaint everyones balcony floors.
Well, earlier in the day I noticed a crew starting to move the suspended scaffolding over to my side of the building, figure they were just getting it set up while the weather was still good and they would start tomorrow. Nope, they got it all set up and around 3:30pm the supervisor started to send 3 guys up 12 fucking stories. Couldn't believe it, literally 30min prior everyone in the area got a severe weather alert via text mentioning baseball size hail, not to mention the obvious close fucking thunder and lightning happening at the time.
Since I was hanging out watching it roll in I just yelled down to them "what the fuck do you think you're doing?!?" pointing at the sky. They just laughed, not really understanding. Then a min or so later, and 2 floors off the ground, I guess the super called it because they ended up going down and left.
Dumbfounded

^^^people are idiots.
Reminds me of the time I was sprinting off Holy Cross with a t-storm bearing down and buzzing in the air. And a dozen people were going the other way, up above 13k into the storm.
I live right near Northridge rec center, that went right through our neighborhood, absolute insanity, there was debris like 100 feet in the air and a neighbors trampoline landed in the middle of the street from their backyard. We lost one tree, no damage to the house, but 100s of downed trees in the neighborhood. If you own a tree business, drive down the street and throw business cards out the window. I have tree limbs in my back yard from trees that aren't in my backyard.
The englemann spruce didn't make it, but my marigold/blue fescue floral arrangement was miraculously unscathed.

Just another incredible light storm in Lafayette these past two days. So glad no one got hurt in that tornado. The footage online is insane. Sounds like the worst of it is some fences and tree damage which is a bit of a miracle.
Today marks eight weeks since my accident. I'm pretty psyched to be heading home to Silverton tomorrow. The land of perfect 70 degree weather and zero chance of rain for the next week. Of course these two months were the wettest May/June the front range has seen. Fingers crossed the rest of the summer isn't hot and dry that turn the state into a tinder box. Keep the wet weather coming, with maybe a little less tornado and hail please.
