Also, since we're talking about Hesperus, that place is my new favorite ski area. I enjoy sucking dick over at Telluride as much as the next guy, but there's something special about the no-fucks-given approach to skiing that Hesperus offers. Is this run adequately lit for night skiing? Absolutely not, open it anyway! Will our lift break? Probably! Will our only two patrollers be on it when it breaks? Also probably! Is all of our staff blazed out of their minds? You fuckin' know it!

They used to open the whole "mountain" on full moon nights, not just the poorly lit trails. Doubt they still do that, but goddamn that was fun.

My best day there was late March, a week after they closed, and they got ~15". Set a skin track, did 6 laps, and the only tracks I crossed were on lap 6. Fuck that was a good day.

Wait... they used to close parts of the mountain at night?
    Why would they do that?
Thankfully those days appear to be past.

One of those days at Vail yesterday where people kept talking about crust but they only skied the back bowls. Meanwhile chair 11 had some seriously good snow and skiing right onto the chair.

Naturals all over the road apparently. This storm has been incredible down south.

Not a great pic but I skied to work this morning in some of the highest quality snow all season. So hard to not go up for another lap. Living at 9318’ ain’t bad.

Had to go up for lap 2/3 after work. Total cold smoke hero snow. Silverton mountain on Thursday could be all time with a few more colder pulses coming through.

Still trying to process this. My heart is breaking for her sister. Less than two years later. Life is fucked.

Sorry to hear about the fatalities.

This storm cycle has been nuts in the Juans. I measured 32" on the ground at 7100' on the edge between desert and mountains. Took the sled for a rip in my yard and had continuous faceshots for as long as I was willing to hold the throttle open.

Harkens back to not long ago about what Foggy was saying. It takes a long time to live a long time with good shit out your door. But, it can still happen decades later. What a game we play with our minds.

I'm a twin, that has got to really hurt. Also for the partner. Completely unrelated to this video. Just a relevant obs from today.

Sometimes that donut shifts for just one or two storms a year. Was at a buddies house in wildernest last night at the drive home til Frisco was nuts, a good 4 inches in an hour-ish around 8/9pm.

6ish inches in the Cove. Plow bump at the end of the driveway was 3 feet though. Might get out for some afternoon laps later.
