Monday opening at WP.
Those of us in Resort Ops are super fucked with no staff because it's over 2 weeks earlier than was planned literally days ago, but Sky's got a hard-on for an October opening. Come shred 600 vertical feet on Parkway for 3 extra weeks. Fuckin woo.
It’s official. Winter Park opens Halloween.
I keep hitting refresh on the Loveland snowmaking blog (thanks Dustin) wondering if tomorrow is the day. It'll be such a pretty day to ski.![]()

I almost skied down some rocks at coon hill today, since the Loveland snowtel was reporting 11". It's more like 6" at the coon parking lot, so I bailed. I figured the odds of getting suckered into hurting myself made the juice to squeeze ratio unattractive.
Ramrod opens this weekend. Now it’s fucking on!
How far did the Cirque go before? Because I have gone as far as Alphabet, I thought, and wasn't at the end. Sure is an awful lot of work to get out there, but of course you get the rewards for doing it.

I've gone as far as D/Destiny, and heard of E/Eternity being open on a few occasions.
Has anyone done the Rise and Shine Rando races at A-Basin? I've never done a race before - are they any fun if you're an average ski tourer who won't be anywhere near the podium?
Maybe you should talk to KillingCokes (Fritz Sperry), you can also find him on facebook.

I did a few last year and really enjoyed them. Was mid-pack at best, racing on 91 underfoot skis and F1s. I do have a decent amount of fitness from racing bikes and competitive running for the last decade and change though. Not sure what the way back of the field looked like but definitely some people showing up with 4 buckle boots etc. All the races I did were mass start with no separate groups. Things quickly separate on the uphill anyway.
The courses got better (harder and more technical) over the season - adding some actual skintracks with kickturns, a bootpack, etc. If you like racing in the first place I'd say well worth it. And might also give new perspective on what's an achievable amount of mileage/vert in a given amount of time vs touring with friends.
I went to denver yesterday some of the trees still had spectacular color this one wad berry impressive thought I'd share![]()
did not realize until looking into it just now that the basin is charging passholders $20 for an uphill pass this year. thats kinda lame
