No, they pay interns to stand just outside the snow stake camera view and pad the numbers. They’ve gotten good about how they throw snow up and make it flutter down naturally.

As we all know, it depends on a lot of different factors. The entire mountain doesn't get one even blanket of 9". Elevation, aspect, orographic, temp, wind, etc etc etc. I do know that there wasn't 9" down on airport rd, and I'm glad because I would have been shoveling that shit.
But like I said, let Breck claim it, post it all over their Social Medias, draw in the masses. If anyone can handle it, it is that town. Soak up that gaper money!
So you guys are saying that vail actually pays their interns.

breck can't handle it 20 mins to go from one side of town to the other on a thursday at 5 nope wall to wall gapers
went to the post office to pick up my new fleshlight and sure as shit there wasn't a parking spot to be had then it took ten mins to drive one block try again this morning
was suprised 2 inches in town and alot more just a couple hundred feet higher
hate on breck it's ok
this weekend will be all time greatest ever
I said it wasn’t bad, sheesh.
Also, went 70 back to CS, 2 hours flat.
That’s pretty good, not a nine inch booner , but not bad.

Anyone know if Ikon Base is blacked out at ABasin this weekend? Someone please say "Yes".
And yep, Breck's 9" was an over-report yesterday, using Horseshoe Bowl as a measure. It was more like 6". I didn't get up to Whale's, but maybe there was 9" up there? Still a good morning of skiing.
Old's Cool.
I could be wrong, but I think all of the limited day resorts are blacked out.

"everybody's got their hooks into you, fuck em....forge on motherfuckers, drag all those bitches across the goal line with you." - (not so) ill-advised strategy
Sounds racist. Especially in February.
Like I said it wasn’t bad. Got a kick outa the boarders
crawling on the traverse out there. Y chutes and beyond had good snow.

Seeing videos of the Breck gondola line going onto Main Street plus a couple blocks. I can’t imagine waiting in that only to wait in another lift line after.

I was in Breck this am. It was nuts, as was to be expected. People really pay to parallel park on main st and go ski? That always cracks me up.
Does it now seem like people are showing up just for the line. Like to get some crazy vid of the lines for their IG and "Go Viral"!!!!!
The 2” + wind bullshit did buff out Land of Giants; I’ll take it.
Blackout weekends rule. I’m glad everyone went to Breck !

Crosspost from the Fuck Vail thread but I just don’t get the appeal of skiing at Breck anymore, for a visiting skier. How do people come back every year knowing this is what their ski vacation is going to be? Fly into Denver, hours of traffic to Breck, blocks long lines just to get on a gondola that takes you to the base of the mtn, where something like this awaits. How do people do this over and over, year after year, and not go somewhere else, like Utah…boggles my mind people pay thousands of dollars for a week of this.

Captain Obvious here to remind jaded locals (like myself) how rad it is to ski on actual mountains when all experiences prior have been on molehills. You (likely) prioritize the skiing in quality and quantity. Lots of these people want to ski a bit, do some shopping on a cute main street, eat at a good restaurant and stay a "cool mountain cabin." CO ski towns are hard to beat for that experience. I did the "out west" ski vacation thing about every other year as a kid. We probably stood in lines, we'd usually drive 12+ hrs to do it. Felt like a big adventure at the time and was totally awesome.
Utah is cool. It's also way more limited than CO for on-slope or near slope lodging, weird laws about booze, etc. I think the average tourist likes CO because ski areas are further from the urban center so it feels more like a mountain getaway (with urban amenities).
holy fuckin smokes at that lift line, but to be expected. Basin is blacked out again tomorrow right? may go up there for some runs before work as the spine/ face looked pretty nice in their instagram story.
wait is that today? I don't see a single cloud in silverthorne
Pretty good skiing in the northern front range the past couple weekends. Finally have the coverage to explore some of the new burn zones

Decent snow still lingering near Allenspark in cooler aspects. SE stuff a little grabby but still worthwhile
