Eldora was skiing good today. Some nice turns with hawkgt, so glad winter's finally here.

Bit of a sleeper day today at T-ride with a few additional inches overnight. Just enough to hide all the rocks!

WP/MJ was soft, and crowd free. Maybe not everyone thought it was a holiday? A bunch of the little stuff adding up.

Maybe last weekend was so bad for so many that they took the weekend off?

The Snotel closest to my house is up 2 inches of SWE in the last week. That excites me.

Par for the course with the dreaded NW flow, and of course it's several times that just a few miles to the W.

Had hoped for a little more. Seems like a few of the steeper/ more obvious trails at the basin off of pali were just traversed across or something a bunch of times this weekend, didn’t set them up great as of yesterday afternoon. Not skiing bad by any means tho. I blame al’s post about the buffed out spine from last week

Did you end up getting any heli time?
Some of our party did a 6drop heli on Friday. They described 3 of the runs as being inside a ping pong ball...It was dumping and super windy with low viz...so they stayed in the butter / grassy zone.

To be honest I was pretty surprised the birds were flying. Seems a little too cowboy given the weather. Was stoked with the output for 2 guided days. 20k in verts (5 runs per day) we skiied Waterfall, Rifff, Raff, Rope Dee, Cabin and Tiger main in fantastic conditions.

Highly recommend Rob Roof as a guide if any y’all head down that way in the future.

2nd Rob Roof, he's a great guide. I think him and his wife also run the Triangle Motel in Silverton. At least they did several years ago when we had him as a guide.

Things are looking a lot better for the Colorado basin SWE. The trend through January was pretty dire but February has made up a lot of ground.

Nice work Wildman - 5 runs, including a Rope hike, is a solid day. I rode with Roof a few years ago and had a great time; he got us into Nightmare and Two Smokes in fun conditions.

On one low vis trip, the heli took us to some trees SW of the lift. Deadfall choked, tight and minimal flow. I would have taken a Grassy/Butter ping pong experience over that.

OMG now you guys are making me dream about Silverton. My prev days there were lifetime experiences, like learning to ski powder. It's been so long ago! I even bootpacked it one time and of course I was the stupid slowest person on the hike up. But Jen was always so nice to me, even when I was a total noob.

And staying in Silverton (the town) during a big storm, well that is just the best.

Can confirm. I heard a loud as fuck Texan on the chair behind me literally say "yesterday was the best day of my life. Today, though is just way too much snow. I was not ready for 26" of the white powder in my face!"

It was stupid good Sunday at Wolf Creek. There were so many lines untouched all the way to close due to the skiing populace sticking to three packed pow runs. One of the laps we got off the ridge, down through Coyote Park, and out was choke city the entire way. Even on my 124mm waisted skis I was up to my knees/thighs.

    Dreamy.
You should have been here yesterday!

Today was pretty damn good though. Soft snow pretty much everywhere. No complaints here.

Totally, we've gotten at least a little snow nearly every day for quite a while now. At this point the big question is when phoenix spellbound will open

I'm a big supporter of Joel, but they have a point. Its been pretty obvious the decline in the quality that has happened this year especially in comparison to Tahoe and Utah daily snows. Maybe its Covid doing it, but the drop off is real.
