Jongs always want to blow past good skiers. You slow down to get turny and here come the heat seeking missiles.

Sounds like it was Marvin's and it sounds like it could be another multi victim situation. Hopefully my info is incorrect but I doubt it.

Marvin's. I just don't understand how this keeps happening over the years...but I wasn't there and don't want to armchair QB this.

I just read on Vail Daily it was one buried, but I really also hope it isn't a multi and that article was from two hours ago.

The losses are heavy as of late
You should have been here yesterday!

I’m 45 and have a wife and kid and I know my risk has decreased substantially the last 10 years.....but man....today wasn’t the day. Really really really hope everybody is ok.

Man, I don't know why Red Lady bowl has become this line that you can just ski whenever you want in CB. Sounds like those 5 were lucky, but I bet it's the spandex/cross country ski pole crowd that think they were smarter since they skied a different part of the bowl...

    Sucks about E Vail.

CB was pretty sick today. Awesome thick snow that filled things in and they dropped the rope on the high lift (finally). One of the better openings I can remember. Also, the most Vail lift line ever: stand in one line at the top of the Queen. Then a patroller sends 2 people at a time down North Star, where they get in line #2 for the high lift. Weird as shit.

Ha that makes 2 of us!! I knew I should have went up today.

I am still figuring out the Colorado snowpack (only been here 2 winters) it is SIGNIFICANTLY different than the Wasatch where I spent the last 25 years touring around. Frankly I have been pretty much terrified to even put on my skins this winter. And yea Goldenboy I am amazed at the number of people who have directed me to Red Lady for a “safe” outing. Sure has never seemed a no brained safe tour to me.

Today was good. I took out the Spats to slay 11" at Key where I know the trees. Lines were not that bad.

I was hit from behind, harder than I've ever been hit in my life on skis. I was making little bitty bouncy Spatula turns down an open section of a black run and just started another turn to the left when WHAM on my left side and a CRUNCH on my left arm and I'm suddenly flying down slope and someone is flying through the air with me. BOOF I'm down and sit for a moment, figure out I'm not significantly injured.

I ask the other guy if he is OK. Long pause...
    Idiot: "... I guess so."
Me: "Good. Now... WTF? I was in front of you!"
Idiot: "Uh sorry... I couldn't turn..."
At this point my friends ride up and say, "dude he blew past going so fast!"
Me: "He hit me going so fast too..."
Dude: "Uh I don't know what else to say."
I look at him and his double ejected skis with P18s way up the hill, where we made contact. He is holding his broken ski pole (that he broke on my left arm, which hurt).
Me: "OK then I'll tell you we are lucky we don't have broken bones. So ski in control so you don't kill anyone."
    Idiot: "Um OK."
My friends definitely did not grab his skis for him, so he had to wallow up the hill a ways.

At this point I just stood up because there was pow to ski, so I just kept skiing pow until it was skied up in my tree stashes. I shoulda asked him to buy me a new helmet, but my head didn't start hurting until later.

Home now. Sore all over, mostly my arm though with a pole shaped bruise. Took some naproxen... Gonna need hot tub tonight...

Sorry to hear about that. Excellent show of self-restraint though. I probably would have Abner Louima'd the fucker with my ski pole if that had happened to me.

Damn. I’m with glademaster and glad you’re good. Especially given how absolutely pathetic Keystone patrol is.

Had a GF who was arrested in Keystone once and I bailed her out so she was on parole. It was pretty pathetic. They gave us the gun back at the courthouse with a full clip, one in the chamber, and the safety off.

Breck skied quite titties yesterday. Couldn't believe tbar line died down around 11:30.

I will say that while it's busy out there these days, most these new covid skiers only ski the main lines and hardly deviate much. The north side of tbar toward boundary chutes barely got skied when they opened it.
