Well I mean 37 has equaled zero for quite a while around here.
But no on the Loveland live weather page says zero. No biggie just interesting.
Always like this page as a way to get a feel for what’s going on in the various zones:

Same up north![]()
Vail is unbelievable. Long lines. Crowds not much open so it tracked fast. But it was super good briefly

If we're gonna wear uniforms, we should all wear somethin' different!
Hell no. Top layers of the snow pack were much sketchier than anticipated. Stomped on some test slopes at tree line. Saw the top layer peeling off and breaking like glass, and shooting cracks going down to an older bed surface about a foot deep. I didn't want to be on or under anything steep. And in spots where the snow wasn't as reactive (south facing stuff wasn't as bad) there was still a heinous, punchy crust. Below tree line was only slightly better, even in protected areas. The wind wasn't that bad, but the snow was so cold and dry that it had been flying all over the place. Had a lovely skin up and one very careful lap down. It was leg breakin snow.
Ridiculously deep in the trees at WP/MJ. Dense snow and surf.

Ouch that sucks. Seems like those conditions exist all too often in that zone. Were the test slopes you were referring to in and around the aprons of DT/DE or were your assessments done on different south facing slopes? Part of me is wondering how this storm layer is bonding to the old surface in those 2 coolies. Probably too much wind with this storm, but occaisionally the conditions are just right for those in mid-winter.

Super deep at Abasin today. Free refills. Beavers was on wind hold so a consistent full maze on Pali (which went on wind hold at noon). Early riser lot was 1/2 full at 8:30am.
