I went to Jim Gaffigan and Atmosphere last night. When I got home at 1, it was clear as a bell and 31. No way will it be a Powder day, sleep in.
These waves are givin up the goods. Vertical fluffing happening again.
Vail Pass is back open, sadly.
the drugs made me realize it's not about the drugs
Nuking in CB, which is super surprising given the poor NW flow direction. Must be the front passing. Almost 5" already, coming on top of the ~18" or so in the past 72...
Flatboat is getting the business.
Best winter since that 10/11 sweetheart

Absolutely primo conditions out there right now. Too much fun!
I’ll take limited moisture, cold temps, and the NW flow all day over that SW Pineapple Express shit. Today was fuggggin awesome!
ROLL TIDE ROLL
F that. The Express delivered big time. Always does. Today was as good as it gets- a foot of surfy stuff from yesterday topped with another 8" or so of fluff during the day. Instead of just sluffing off the steeps like shitty blower snow does, the wet stuff stuck like glue and was topped with softer snow. For those who know CB, I would have felt confident skiing slot rocks blindfolded today with a cup of coffee in one hand and wouldn't have spilled a drop. Usually it makes the heart rate peg. So good.
Sounds rad. Wish we could hit stuff that steep in the backcountry today. Still, trenching on a 30 degree slope was amazing!
Foot of fresh at beaver creek today totally exceeded the forecast and was super fun. Smiles for miles.

Mega pow day. Now it is nearly daylight out with the full moon. Wish I could go back on the pass for more laps.
Seven-eight inches of fresh dry pow this morning in P-Town. Wolfy reporting 10" and continued snow predicted until tomorrow (Tuesday) evening.
Your dog just ate an avocado!
A basin to leave the epic pass! Will be interesting to see what type of partnerships they get involved with.
My first thought was Ikon but then I read this:
“While the mountain still has plenty of room for skiers and riders, the ski area is feeling a pinch on parking and facility space. Due to these constraints, Arapahoe Basin believes its staff can take better care of its guests by separating from Vail Resorts.”
I hope they go alone but partner up with a few non-epic/Ikon resorts for a few reciprocal days.
I would also be fine if they had no deals with other ski areas. Arapahoe Basin can stand on it's own.
Me too, if the price is right. However, I'd see them pairing up with the last bastion of independent ski areas in the state as they have in the past.
Also maybe a Mountain Collective type pass with a bunch of 3 day options might be where they head the first year instead of diving into IKON.
I'm torn though, IKON would be sweet, but I want the crowds gone, not just trade Epic gapers for Ikon gapers.
We have the GEMS card. Remember that? Non profit ski trade association that Vail Resorts left. Has all the dope little ski areas on it.
Why do we need more than that? Because consumers are greedy and savagely defend their need for freebies?
Independently owned as in not part of a company that owns a shitload of other ski areas. I know Dundee/Dream owns them, pretty sure they don't own any other ski areas, but they seem to run Abasin ok. Loveland is owned by Texas oil money. Is that better? At least it isn't Vail.
