Seems premature to reopen despite contradictory statements from the 416 incident team, but the FS is under a ton of pressure right now to reopen from all over the place. Critical drought conditions still exist and there are nothing but hot, dry, windy days in the foreseeable future. I just hope we don't regret this...
Stormy. Hopefully everyone did their 14er climbs yesterday
Glad we got out on a ride early today, looks like it's gonna snow out there. It actually did snow on us briefly.
being a misanthrope I prefer to see less than six people when recreating outdoors and that's always a goal
but on the other hand I think I need to readjust and rethink and enjoy a congo line of people, smiling, saying high, and enjoy being part of something bigger than myself
what do would you clowns rather have
Anyone been patch skiing? Any good, easily accessible patches on Jones, Rollins or Loveland right now? Is St Mary’s a suncupped mess?
Speaking of crowds anyone been to New Terrain in Golden? Jeez they are making mad money
Is there a new term for people that love to go to the hip new spot over and over and over until it isn't cool anymore?
yeah.......
I have known a few people "training for alaska" who would run up and down quandry because it's really only a 2 1/2 hr hike. Can only imagine the look on some peoples faces as they are sucking wind and dizzy.
And yeah I know all those places where you can go to escape, I'm just not going to post them on the internet
Frost on the windshield this am. Nice, good job June.
This about sums up weather forecasting in the US....
Monsoons are going to be earlier: https://www.vaildaily.com/news/stron...tern-colorado/
But....
Monsoon season is going to start later: https://www.9news.com/article/weathe...s/73-567434334
I guess since it hasn't started earlier, someone thought they could sound smart by saying it's going to start late this year?
I always figure that monsoons start around the 4th or July, give or take a few weeks. Can't wait. Hate fire danger, love moisture, and I can get out before the rains most days.

Fukt: a very small amount of snow.
Near the Henderson Mill. The mine is on the east side. There's a lot of Beetle kill in that area and it's burning in an ideal place. There's sub-alpine forest and eventually tundra to the N, E, and S, and wetland/willows to the W. Let it burn.
It might snow a little bit up high Saturday night. Probably the last of the summer. Then, rain......?
