I don't know about elsewhere in the FR, but 15 min north of downtown its basically sunny. We got 12-16", but most of it came in about 4 hrs.

"The next storm system arrives Wednesday evening from the northwest."

Jesus H. Cold Front.... snowed 2" and the temp dropped 14 degrees in the past hour.
Fuck Me Sideways--I, yes ME,actually had to slow to the speed limit. Went to pick up the laundry and 20 minutes later a little more than half an inch of snow!
Snowing pretty good in Vail. Temp has dropped a TON and its very foggy. About 1.5" or so at my house right now in the last 2 hours.
Looks like it's still snowing up there, but from the various predictions, sounds like Wednesday would be better for hooky than Tuesday???
A nice little dumping of snow, but it brought a lot of wind with it. It's still gusting to 40mph around here.
have to love springtime in the Rockies. Snowed about two inches this morning in an hour. By afternoon, all melted. This moisture is helping to kickstart the garden.
Anyways, a couple of observations. 1) it fucking figures that when I get a new mountain bike frame, winter kicks up again in full fury (where were you for the last three months)? 2) this week looks to be an impressive train of storms with them stacked up coming out of the Gulf of AK.
Persistent NW flow should benefit the mountains and if the models hold true for the Friday night/Saturday system, we will have a really nice upslope.
It looks to be still nuking at eisenhower
I'm going to get in trouble if I ski 4 out of 5 week days like I did last week...
drove home from the airport last night in full on winter hurricane conditions, wasn't snowing hard but east of the divde the wind was BRUTAL. Haven't looked at any weather in about 4 days, but last I looked a big pattern change was in store for late in the long range, ie warm temps again.

Judging by the forecasts for Eagle / Vail, Tomorrow may be a good inbounds day and Thursday could be a great EV day...
any thoughts, my local eyes and ears?![]()
You should have been here yesterday!

I'm interested, Thanks for sharing!
Everyone thinks I'm a freak anyway, being a tech person. Now my constant babbling about Northwest, high and low pressure and all.
So, am I reading this right, the Jet Stream is strong overhead of Vail right now? http://squall.sfsu.edu/gif/jetstream_pac_init_00.gif Also, it's good for the moisture to be flowing from the Gulf of Alaska? (for Vail)
crazy windy up here today, so yes a strong jet overhead. Any moisture and cool temps riding the NW flow is good for Vail, this is no exception. Looks promising for tomorrow....wouldn't be surprised to see Vail pick up 10".
The storm for Fri-Sat looks really strong right now, however much warmer than the prior storms thus a high snow level to start...9500 feet or so.
Next week the dreaded Omega Block develops.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Jeez you'd think a tech guy would be worried about impending doom tomorrow at the hands of shady computer hackers. But, Montana implying some warm high pressure shit will hit next week is enough to make me emotional. Will have to get fired up to ski before it all goes to slush...
