I'd be shocked if there were any, but also interested to hear. Seems like if they had big lines that would sort of defeat the purpose of the limited opening. Guessing county officials wouldn't be too pumped about 100s of people standing together for 30 minutes waiting to get on a lift.

Also, according to Loveland's website - this is only the 7th time since 1979 that they've opened in November. Latest opening over that period was 11/10/16. Looks like they may tie or surpass that this year.

I got my 7 priority days today and it took about 2 hours. Gave my email and when it was my turn I got a notification. Got the 7 days with no trouble. 157k in line in front of me when I started. Pretty smooth considering. Let’s see if week of goes as smooth.

Coming in on the warmer/ heavier side then getting colder/ lighter snow should set things up real well for them. Yeehaw

How were the roads on the way in? Looks like it's dumping. Was considering heading down but had some stuff come up.

Been raining as hard as it has in maybe 8+ months in Durango right now. Wolf Creek typically goes off when storms like this hit us. Tomorrow could be a really, really good day for November.

Roads were fine, just a bit wet. We will see how the roads are from south fork to the summit this morning. Was pouring as well in south fork last night. No snow report yet, but the snotel says 16 inches on roughly 3 inches of water which seems a little odd. Maybe the snow will truly be that dense. Either way, it will be fun!

The snow was pretty fuckin' good at Wolfy today. It was fairly heavy snow, not powdery at all, and covered a lot of the obstacles that were beginning to emerge during the recent warm spell. Crowds were insane! Many folks were clearly from out-of-town because the line to the ticket window was a couple of hundred feet long. Treasure lift was swamped- musta been a twenty minute wait there. I mainly rode Bonanza- slow, but very short lines, and no one was taking advantage of the singles line. Raven began running around noon. Bombs going off in the direction of Montezuma / Alberta. Tomorrow ought to be pretty nice. Crowds should be markedly reduced and heavy snow is forecast overnight.

    From Durango Weather Guy earlier:

The next weather maker is currently near Las Vegas with pre-frontal moisture stretching all of the way to Page, Arizona. This system is not going to have nearly as much moisture as the last one, but it will have some decent snow. Tuesday is going to be a great day at Wolf Creek, I am expecting 14-20 more inches there by late Monday night. This on top of the 16 inches they got yesterday and overnight.

Man, I wish I could make it down to Wolfie. Hoping I can at least salvage some turns at Red Mountain tomorrow, though.

Just drove from the east coast to Denver in one 23 hour shot to get my skis. Heading down tomorrow night to ski my first day of the season at WC. Will prob be my only midweek resort day of the season. Hope I can find a minute to wax my skis. They’ve been in storage since the first week of March. Hope my ribs hold up. I was laying on concrete yesterday changing the oil in my 4runner and they killed for the whole drive.

Yeah, it was pretty good yesterday. Heavier snow (not wet) was surfy and fun and really did cover things well. So amazing to be riding lifts again!

Alberta lift was $$ when it opened around 1.

I didn't think crowds were that bad considering it was the only ski area open in the state (keystone doesn't count) on a sunday with 15" of fresh.

Wolf Creek was great yesteday! Alberta was fantastic as it was a little better protected from the crazy winds and the coverage was pretty darn good considering it is early November. People were stoked and spirits were high. It was a blast getting to ski no matter what the conditions were.

My only issue yesterday was a single aggro asshole in the line for tickets in the morning. Did my time waiting in the 20-30 minute line to pick up my ticket standing with my buddy who rode out there with me. We got to the front of the line and I was directed to stand and wait for a window on the corner. While I was standing there I noticed a close friend at the window next to us and walked over to say hi for 15-30 seconds. When I walked back to my spot this dude just flipped the fuck out about me cutting in line. I tried to reason with him and get the wolf creek employee who was directing the lines to vouch for me but the dude wouldn't listen to reason at all. He came at me hot and threw a shoulder check as he cut past me to the ticket window, all while screaming about how I was a line cutter and how he would fuck me up.

I got my ticket at the next window and he would just not shut the fuck up. The dude wanted to a fight so bad. I just told him to fuck off, got my ticket and walked away while my other buddies, who were a few people back in line, told the guy the simmer down or he would have a problem.

I know COVID times are crazy, but holy shit people need to chill the fuck out. Every single other person I interacted with yesterday was just stoked to be out there, and appreciated the challenge that Wolf Creek and their employees were dealing with to allow us to ski. If you're getting so hot and bothered about something that really doesn't affect your day, are you really out there to have fun skiing? And maybe some assholes need to learn take a step back and notice when every single other person around is tell you that you are wrong and need to chill out, instead of continuing to escalate.

Sorry, rant over. Yesterday was great, but that one interaction really struck a nerve, I have a feeling we are going to be hearing a lot about similar incidents this season.

I’ve had experiences like that at winter park. Can’t imagine that at WC
