Thread: FS: Atomic Big Daddy 03/04 w/Look p14

    FS: Atomic Big Daddy 03/04 w/Look p14

For Sale: Atomic Big Daddy 03/04 with Mount Anything Plate and Look p14s
    193cm 133-107-123, somewhat stiff flex
    Denver, CO

Grey/orange/black model with black mount anything plate and grey/black p14s
Drilled once before for Cobra R8s, straight to the ski beneath the now-mounted plate
p14s currently mounted to plate for 304mm boot sole, around 1.5-2.0 cm back
Skied only 3 or 4 days total, in mint condition

Got these a couple years ago, then subsequently bought 190cm Gotamas, 190cm Lotus 120s, and 195cm Praxis to go with my 183cm Sugar Daddies.
Now I have way too many toys and these are likely to just sit in the closet most of the time. I'll use them a few times each season, but probably not more.
They are a kickass ski, and I love them, I just have too many skis I love right now.

So, if you're interested, make a cash offer.
If I like it, I'll let you know. Otherwise, they'll stay in the closet.
I will sell skis only, skis + plate, or whole package, but I will not sell plate only, bindings only, or plate + bindings only, unless skis sell first.
Don't bother with offers under $425 for the package, or under $275 for the skis + plate, or under $225 for the skis alone.

oh fer fuck's sake! I do not "need" to buy these. I'm totally gonna resist but the temptation is so strong.

Don't you have some 200cm Lotus 120s on the way?

If so, you should resist because a) you should try those first and b) your wife might get mad.

how do they compare to the sugar daddies? I'm looking for something thats going to ski similarly flex wise but handle 8"+. I've heard the old Big Daddies ski really easy for a 193

am I nuts for picking this up for an EC pow stick?

    I don't know Laser...

It's a different ski for sure.

They are definitely easier to handle than people make them out to be.
They are not be feared, and definitely not if you put them where they belong, in pow.

But, they are significantly burlier than the Sugars.
They are heavier, stiffer flexing, and make much longer turns.

They are great for going very fast, busting crud, in deep pow in open areas, and in soft smooth corn. I wouldn't want them for tight trees (no matter how deep), any bumps (too stiff in the forebody), or icy runs (although they are still fun on groomers).

For an EC pow stick, unless you're 6'1"+ and 200lbs+ and very aggressive, I'd say no.
You probably want something around or under 190cm and much wider with a medium tip/forebody so you can surf quickly and easily in the trees there.

For EC pow, I'd recommend the 192 Thug or 194 XXL before these.
Or go shorter and much wider: 185 Praxis, 190cm Lotus 120, etc.

These are a KILLER setup for an average to bigger guy who charges pretty hard in more open terrain.

Of course, obviously I'll sell them to you if you want them.

Yes, you are. This ski has no real place on the east coast.

    That said, these skis rule.

thats what I thought, I've just been looking for something like a Pow Plus, but not as heavy with a softer flexing tip

    Weekly bumpage.

    $250 for 193cms of 107mm-waisted fun can't be beat.
$450 for the full charger setup in mint condition is crazy!

I can relate to your problem.......
190 ANTs, 185 Sickbirds, 183 Gotamas, Spats, and 195 Praxis.....and I am looking in gear swap for some sick and twisted reason

    ......free bump

  12. #12
Heh, I do the same thing.

    Anyway, here's another weekly bump.

I'll sweeten the deal a little further, but this is truly as low as they'll go.
Otherwise they just stay in the closet until I need them.

    Skis only = $225
    Skis + Plate = $275
    Skis + Plate + Bindings = $425

Probably best for CO pickup, although I will be in S. Lake Tahoe over NYE, and probably in UT at least once in the next month.

    Cheers,
    Brady

You wouldnt be disappointed! Imagine a stiff 190 sugar daddy. They're much more skiable than what their rep was. You'd like'em.

I have basically the EXACT same set-up (I have Rossi Axial 140's on the mount anything plate). It is my do-it-all ski.

    I absolutely LOVE these skis.

Someone should buy these. They seem big and heavy when you look at them, but they ski quite easily and will eat up anything that gets in their way. I find mine to be a bit on the long radius turn spectrum, but you can muscle them if you need to. These things are best going fast in wide open spaces when you can just relax and enjoy the ride. Great crud busters too.

edit: heh - I also have two of the exact same blue Powder stickers on mine too.

How much does your plate on them weigh?

Hehe, thinking about buying the same skis again.

  23. #23
Hm, no clue on the weight of the plate. Not super heavy, but I'm sure it adds a little.

There are a few bindings which don't require the use of the plate, and can be mounted directly to the ski in the channel. 5 hole Sollys (e.g. 916s), Look pXs (so I'm told, haven't tried), and a few others. There's a huge thread on it, if you can find it.

Heh - being as I bought my Big Daddies from you in the first place.

You buy these, then in another season or two I will sell mine to Chris Knight.

Life is a circle, you see.

    Daddies

Broke my axiums 3 days ago and ended up with these, mounted with Fritschis. They ski great and are light for a 193. I want to sell the Fritschis and mount some 14ers of some sort. They currently don't have a plate and was told I won't need one? So I'm interested in the plate/binders. I'm 5'10 165lbs and these are easy to handle except when duck walking/sidestep traversing. I'll get some 190 explosivs to replace the axiums and diversify. 1 single axium to appear soon in half a pair.
