    mount question... save some HOLES

Picked up some used Gots drilled once for 914s and I have 957s.

I can use the heel piece where it's at, saving a redrill.

For the toe piece it LOOKED like I was going to be able to use the old front 2 holes as my new back 2 holes, and I could get away w/ dropping only 2 new holes in these.

BUT for some jack-a-mammy reason the front holes are like 1/2 a screw hole narrower than the back holes!? When I look through the toe piece holes - I can see half the existing hole only when lined up.

I guess, I'm just gonna have to pickup some wider screws and go w/ some JB weld in the those old holes and live w/ it.

any other suggestions... it should also be stated that I've tried sliding the heal as far forward and backward as possible, but can't get enough space between the existing and the potential new holes... and at the furthest forward I'd be farther forward than I'd really like them anyways.

so, I'd have to re-drill the heal piece too - which the lazy bastard in me says not to do.

The heelpiece should have like 2cm of travel in it - unless you are REALLY unlucky, you should be able to drill another set of holes 1cm ahead or behind the old holes. Putting the back screws in holes drilled for front screws with some epoxy sounds like a recipe for disaster...

Try sliding the heels all the way back, and figure out how much further back your boots will push them when you click in - maybe you can just squeek in there without too much fwd pressure?

Sounds like you have some pretty nice "new to you" skis. I think getting your midsole in the proper place is more important than saving the holes. If they had already been drilled more than once that might be a different story.

I say, find where you midsole should be, keep the holes >5mm from each other, and drill away. Perhaps just toe, or just heel, but a few more holes isn't going to hurt em'. Those are nice skis and you probably won't re-sell them right? Maybe you'll put some AT binders on them someday, but still you'd be in the clear for total holes over the life of the ski.
