Cannon was killer today, per usual. Only a little bit of snow overnight, but just enough to play around in all morning. Glad I had the GS boards for the afternoon though.

anybody ski p-kill this week? How was it.
Looks like another low pressure system will take a similar if slightly more northern track tues-wed. Could be another round of good to great snow for the catskills north. Wondering if there will be enough base to ski highmount.

after Bolton today, I'm more than ready for that storm. groomers weren't as boiler plate as I expected, but that was about the extent of the riding due to the condition of the woods.

    nice warm, sunny weather though.

    when is that?

EDIT: Feb 29th and March 1. 7:30pm Colonial Theater, Phoenixville, PA. Maybe...I'm working both days, but even so, I've gotta see what my school work load will be. Would be cool to go rock climbing pre-film.

Yeah, you've gotta take the R6 out to Norristown Transportation Center, then take the 99 Bus toward limerick. It's like an hour and a half...ghey.

yeah fuck that. id rather take PATCO to NJ, get my car from my parents house, and then drive back over the bridge to Phoenixville.

This is what I'll do as long as my work load with school this weekend isnt too bad.

Unless there are any Philly mags going that wouldn't mind hooking me up with a ride? PM me if this is an option for any of you.

But what lurked beneath was different, and very difficult to deal with at any sort of speed. Particularly when I pre-released on the downhill ski halfway down (barely skied out on the remaining ski).
Still fun, but good edges were nice to have. Got to jump in some GS they had set in the afternoon until they pulled it, which was also sort of fun. And witnessed the end of bizarre altercation between patrol and some kids at the bottom at the end of the day with a kid yelling at patrol, "My name is 'suck my dick.'" He then went on to talk about how Magic isn't a 'real' mountain since it only has two chairlifts. Guess he's heading back to Killington?
    Back to Mt. Slow tomorrow...

Where were you when this one ski action occurred? Bottom of the ledges on Blackline? I think I was waiting for you to clear out before heading down. Thankfully folks on the chair were telling me to wait or we could have had a real interesting introduction.

Cross post but wanted to get this some visibility... Additionally, Ill be roadtripping through VT all next week if anyone wants to link up for turns (following snow or at the least, avoiding rain)

Bring your Bogner fartbags and 200+ retro boards, its that kind of race. Benefiting the Adaptive Sports Foundation we hold a memorial race every year for a friend who passed away in a car accident some years ago. There are discounted tickets and a STRONG Gulash the night after the race. Would love to have the turnout be strong as the race continues to gather momentum.

Details at www.remembermichael.com or PM me.

After reluctantly giving my money to the American Ski Company for the past 10 years or so, It was a breath of fresh air to know that these pig fuckers were selling off their property and I could get anew pass and give my green to other mountains. Ding Dong the witch is dead .. Plus I was getting sick to death of Snow, Ktown, and Sunday River. Onward with Sunappee, Stratton, and Okemo

Anyhoo.. Always avoided Stratton, because to the snobby stigma and the "it's all cruisers and groomers" pitch... finally gave it a shot... absolutely thrilled that I did. Probably my new favorite Southern VT mountain. Lines weren't bad for a Saturday, snow maintenance is head and shoulders better than sucky Okemo. But it is all about the trees.. I think the snobby reputation this place has keeps the aggressive skiers and riders tearing up the shit of the other southern VT mountains... there were huge sections of trees on this hill right next to the lift that had completely untouched 6 inches of blower far and wide at 3:00 PM ON SATURDAY. well cut, well placed, untouched trees all over this mountain.. never seen anything like it 24 hours after a small storm.

2 hours from home too.. marked trees were good .. unmarked trees were fantastic.. glad I finally gave this mountain a shot, and plan on returning soon.

In our growing love for skiing we've begun to want to merge it with our love for hiking and the Adirondacks.
Well last sat. we finally got our chance.
Awesome pics! As far as the moving to mountains--no regrets here! do it!

Nah, it's going to be another "dusting to 2 inches" for us up here. Stay south, you'll be happier.

i definitely wouldn't want to be northern VT for this storm. the base is just too deep, and 8-16" of cold smoke just won't be that enjoyable without rocks and trees to snag your shit on.... i'd stay down south too

Just above that, I think. Chair wasn't moving at that point, so it couldn't have been me (I don't think, unless Red Chair could see me).
Like I said, still a fun day on an excellent mountain, just not what I had hoped. And pre-releases really screw your confidence.

Dexter, try Magic again. Maybe it's an aquired taste.

Speaking of taste, did you at least taste the HighLife at the bar?

No, I love Magic, that was the third or fourth day I've skied there this year, and I'll be back for at least a few more. Given how much snow there was through NY, MA, and CT I just thought there might be more at Magic. I think they got 2" less than northern NJ...
I was too busy making S'mores on the deck with my kids to hang at that bar, but I've done that in past years, too.
