Anybody up at the Bush during vacation week? Look for mad 7 year old in cammo outfit on blue Juvys and his father (red jacket, green pants, legend pros) trying to keep up.
Might have to make a trip up to MRG early next week. I'm praying this President's day storm remains as snow and doesn't changeover.
"Oh wait... was she a great big fat person?"
looks bad for Monday but at least it won't be too crowded at Burke
You're gonna stand there, owning a fireworks stand, and tell me you don't have no whistling bungholes, no spleen spliters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker donts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistling kitty chaser?
You should of been here yesterday. I heard that a lot today. Skied Cannon expecting a somewhat accurate report. 7" ? maybe before the rain. Cause there was only dust on crust. They groomed when wet and let it freeze. The woods are just glazed and not skiable.
Anyone have a report form Jay? Need to go tomorrow cause it sucked here today.
Battle lines being drawn, nobody’s right if everybody’s wrong, old people speaking their minds, getting so much resistance from behind.
im heading home this weekend for an invitational karate tournament, so needless to say I wont be skiing till late next week at the earliest

steaux sux!!!!
will be there tomorrw mornign with phall
Hypothetically speaking, how far north would one have to drive to escape the crust?
I'd really like to tour this weekend and avoid the crowds, trying to get a feel for where the line actually ended up from this week's storm.
1. so far that youll actually end up driving south on the other side of the arctic
2. good luck, presidents weekend could very be the busiest for the ski industry
jay: forget about it
stowe: same
bush: probably same
smuggs: weekend will suck, but next week wont be too bad
mrg: single line, double wont suck too much
bolton: who cares

Called the parents, there's crust back home too.
Might drive up to Cardigan Sat. and even if the snow sucks it'll be a fun tour for scenery anyway. Crust is fine, aside from that whole "turning" thing.
I'm heading to Jay.... after skiing it New Year's weekend and expecting a shit-show I was plesently surprised at a mellow crowd. Hopefully everyone will be scared off by all the talk of rain and crust!
I'm guessing/hoping my secret stashes will be in fine shape for the weekend.
I like chicks who ride. Especially if they're cyclists.
A little report from the central Adks. We skied Gore yesterday, it was fantastic. The lower mountain had a light crust in the woods, up higher on the mountain it was just dense powder. Chantemiac Glades and woods above skied very nicely. Up above 2500' the snow should be decent in central to N. Adks.
They didn't drop the ropes on Rumor until afternoon. No concrete bumps or gaper yardsales just a deep, smooth slope. It was good!

Birdman, my apologies for missing the review. You were spot on. Jay today was better than I imagined. It was MONEY!!!!!
Yes, some wind at the top, but it snowed some last night, it snowed throughout the day, and no one was there. I found fresh until last run of the day.
A great, great day at Jay.

2-16-08 Central Adk BC. No lines, no waiting, no crust. Nothing but powder from ~2100'-3800'. Good tour for turns.
Hopefully tomorrow's precip doesn't come down as rain/mixed in the Adks at higher elevations. Conditions are already fantastic, another good snow event would make it epic.
Whats the current state of southern vermont? I'm thinking of playing hookey a day or two this week and wondering if it'd be worth it?
It's not tragic to die doing what you love.

Central VT is 56F and sunny, hasn't rained since early this morning. Plenty of snow left on the ground though. We'll probably be back below freezing in a couple of hours.
To the Thingmajigger!
I'd say pick different days for hookey. I was around Mt. Snow this weekend (was supposed to hit Magic one day but didn't) and anything ungroomed was about as close to unskiable as it gets--very hard ice crust, but still mostly breakable. Don't know what the weather is supposed to do, but I can't imagine it's going to be too good.
But there is plenty of snow-like material around if you just want to ski goomers.

I hit Jay this weekend on Saturday and Sunday..... what the hell?
anyone else there? Saturday was cold as hell but small crowds and good snow. Sunday was a different story entirely, sunny and warm with the biggest lift lines I've ever seen!
Anyone else ever seen a crowd like that there? holy shit, not cool!
I like chicks who ride. Especially if they're cyclists.
Woodcorps and I were there Sunday too. You're right, an absolute zoo. Jay now gets crowds like that a few times a year, and since everyone knew the southern resorts were hit with not-so-nice weather leading up to this weekend, everyone went north. I suspect Stowe, Smuggs, MRG and Sugarbush were crowded too. Maybe some folks who went to those resorts this weekend can chime in on that one.
That said, we had many runs where we were the only two skiing in the trees, and we weren't even going to our "private" stashes. Thankfully the woods still remain uncrowded. But on the trails, look out! The trails were mobbed.
Unfortunately, Jay is no longer the hidden gem it once was. The word is out.
Whiteface had the biggest crowd it its history yesterday. it was crazy! They ran out of parking and had to shuttle people from the nearest town of Wilmington, which is 3-4 miles away. and they just built a brand new huge parking lot last year. Although--if you knew where to go, you could still avoid lines and crowds. Still cant compare to VT resorts where you have to wait 40 minutes in a line. I think I waited 10-15 minutes for one gondola--rest of day was awesome. lots of ottawans.
Killington 10:30 am on presidents day
I think the new owners plans of having fewer skier visits is working a bit too well

For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was
