As a professional big wave surfer, Ian Walsh spends much of the winter traveling to the world's biggest and best breaks. And after nearly two decades as a pro, his comfort level while standing atop windy, choppy 50-foot walls of water is almost spooky.

This winter Ian made a point of pushing both himself and his equipment at a legendary quartet of surf locations: Jaws, Nazaré, Waimea, and Mavericks. With some of the best makes and worst falls we've seen this season, this edit is more than enough to get the adrenaline pumping.
