VIDEO: Meet the Pacific Climate Warriors in “Matagi Mālohi”

Pacific Island nations have historically contributed very little to greenhouse gas emissions, yet are facing some of the most dramatic ramifications of anthropogenic climate change, primarily in the form of rising sea levels. The scientific community agrees that low-lying island nations in the Pacific may become virtually uninhabitable over the next century due to loss of habitable land, increasing saltwater intrusion, more powerful storms, and other climate-related issues.

Faced with this titanic struggle, a group of young Pacific Islanders formed the Pacific Climate Warriors, a youth and indigenous-led movement promoting climate awareness and action.
