Video: Joey Schusler Makes a Himalayan Pilgrimage By Bike

Among mountain bikers, Joey Schusler seeks out some of the most aggressive adventures in parts of the world bikes don’t usually go. Whether its chasing singletrack high in the Andes, forging through the wilds of the Caucasus, packrafting in Mongolia, or following the route of a scared Buddhist pilgrimage through the Himalaya, Schusler has a penchant for getting into unique situations and making beautiful short films about them.

Schusler’s latest short film Kora follows an adventure on the route of the Yading Kora, a journey around the base of a handful of 19,000-foot peaks in Tibet. Over generations, several Dalai Lamas have ordained the peaks as sacred, and the Tibetan people who inhabit the isolated region revere them as granite gods. Sam Seward, Brice Minnigh, and Joey Schusler pack up the mountain bikes and make the 10-day pilgrimage for themselves in what could be the ultimate bikepacking trip.
