Aaron Gwin is an animal. After putting down yet another mind-melting run to win in Val di Sole on Saturday, Gwin had enough points to clinch the overall UCI DH title. The rather technical track, which claimed his rival Greg Minnaar’s frame in practice and his tire in the final, was no match for Gwin, who dropped in last and saw green numbers the whole way down.
France’s Myriam Nicole managed to hold on to her lead on the overall women's points, holding off impressive runs by Tahneé Seagrave and Tracey Hannah, who challenged Nicole throughout the season.
While this is the final race of the series, the athletes still have one more competition ahead of them: the World Championship in Cairns, Australia in early September.
