What happens when a group of college ski buddies re-unite for a trip of a lifetime to the Far East of Russia? That was a question that nobody had the answer to, so this crew set out to go find what lay in the far reaches of a land they had never been to. With only 1.5 Russian speakers among the crew of 8, the culture shock was very real from the moment they first stepped foot in Kamchatka. However, when they finally made into the snowy mountains further inland, the familiarity of putting skis on snow brought some relief.
For nearly a month, the crew lived out of several base camps in various zones along the volcanic mountain range that divides Kamchatka, chasing both human-powered first descents and repeating big lines in terrain unlike anywhere else found on earth. The main objective? Climbing and skiing the highest active volcano in Eurasia - two weeks after they returned home, the volcano dramatically erupted.
