Video: Two Massive Avalanches Hit Colorado’s I-70

If you thought traveling Colorado’s I-70 was a nightmare due to traffic, think again. This weekend, after a huge winter storm blanketed the state in a fresh coat of snow, two massive avalanches hit the highway in Ten Mile Canyon, just east of Copper Mountain, burying several cars. The avalanches were captured by several drivers, see the footage above.

I-70 was promptly closed to allow emergency crews to assess the scene. Nobody was injured. Other parts of Colorado were affected by avalanches as well, prompting closures of Wolf Creek Pass, Red Mountain Pass, and Lizard Head Pass.
