Rapper Big Boi will Headline The Snow League’s Inaugural Comp in Aspen

Big Boi, the legendary rapper and member of OutKast, is set to bring the ATL energy to the mountains, headlining The Snow League’s highly anticipated debut event in Aspen.
Along with Andre 3000, Big Boi still holds the title for best selling rap album of all time with OutKast's seminal Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. Big Boi will take the stage to close out the two-day snowboarding contest, setting the tone for snowboarding's newest competitive league.
“I couldn’t be more excited to have Big Boi join us for this moment,” said Shaun White, founder of The Snow League. “We’ve been friends for years, and his music, creativity, and style perfectly align with what we’re building here. I know the athletes and the crowd are going to love every second of it.”
With a 2019 Super Bowl halftime performance under his belt and a catalog of era-defining hits like So Fresh, So Clean, The Way You Move, and Ms. Jackson, Big Boi is an exciting choice to close out the event.
“Aye, much love to my guy Shaun White for having me out in Aspen for The Snow League,” Big Boi said. “That boy is a legend—it only makes sense for him to create an event like this. I’m looking forward to supporting him and bringing that ATL flavor up to the mountain.”
A New Era in Competitive Snowboarding
The Snow League’s inaugural event will take place at Buttermilk Mountain on March 7-8, 2025, featuring a world-class roster of 36 riders—20 men and 16 women. Among them are Olympic medalists and rising stars, including Ayumu Hirano, Maddie Mastro, and Maddy Schaffrick.
Hirano, 25, will be joined by his younger brother, Kaishu Hirano, along with fellow Japanese standouts Ruka Hirano and Ryusei Yamada. On the women’s side, heavy hitters like Queralt Castellet, Jiayu Liu, and Mitsuki Ono will be battling it out.
The Snow League introduces a season-long format where riders accumulate points at each stop, culminating in the crowning of a world champion—similar to Formula 1. It will also serve as a key pathway for Olympic qualification, with results counting toward the World Snowboard Points List.
