Massive New Ski Resort Planned Right Next to Deer Valley

While it's hard to argue that the Salt Lake City-Park City area is lacking in ski resorts, there's always room for more. At least that's what the developers of Mayflower Mountain Resort seem to think, and they're not alone. The resort is being developed by Extell Development Company, one of New York City's preeminent real estate development companies, with support from Utah’s Military Installation Development Authority. We're not gamblers, but if we were we certainly wouldn't bet against a project backed by an entity with "Military Installation" in its name.

According to the Deseret News, the resort is expected to occupy 5,600 acres, and offer 1,520 residential units, 825 hotel rooms, commercial space, and 600 skier parking spaces. While it's hard to put a hard-and-fast completion date on a project of this caliber, the developers are hoping to have the village and some ski runs open within the next five years.
