Skier Injured on Cody Peak Outside JHMR

A skier fell off a ridge on Jackson’s Cody Peak yesterday, falling 1,000 feet and injuring both legs.The man, identified as 24-year-old Stephen Sherk by the JH News and Guide, was rescued by Teton County Search and Rescue via short haul.

Sherk was skiing with a group when he slipped on ice, falling off the west side of the ridge connecting Cody Peak and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Two of his ski partners, as well as two members of a separate party, climbed down to assist him. They called 911 around 11 a.m. to initiate the rescue, which was carried out by TCSAR and Grand Teton National Park Rangers. Sherk was transported to the local hospital for treatment.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is closed for skiing, but backcountry users can still access terrain on the south side of the resort using the Aerial Tram.
