Loic Bruni and Tracey Hannah Win Leogang UCI DH World Cup

Just a short week after racing in a wet-and-wild Fort William, Scotland, the world’s fastest downhillers took the track again in Leogang, Austria. Things looked a little different this time around, with a fast and loose track famous for its high speeds and massive bike park features.

On the men’s side, Frenchman Loic Bruni topped the podium, followed by legend Greg Minnaar (when is he ever going to slow down?), Troy Brosnan, and Danny hart. Bruni commented on his win, saying: “I was struggling on the top section at the beginning of the weekend, then yesterday at the bottom, so maybe today I kind of found the balance. I started the run pretty committed and I couldn’t really feel the grip. It was super-hard because it dried up a lot. I just held on, depended on everything I had – because every detail counts on this track – and it was enough.”

The women’s race was marred by some massive crashes, including defending champion Rachel Atherton’s near the top of the track. After the dust settled, Tracey Hannah topped the podium, followed by some new names like Nina Hoffmann, Kate Weatherly, Marine Cabirou, and Veronika Wildmann.

The next race will take place in Vallnord, Andorra on July 5th.
