2015 Dick’s Ditch Banked Slalom Race

Tristan Clegg showing how it's done.

Once again the air is warm, birds are chirping, slush turns are bountiful, and hitting the mountain in a t-shirt, or less, is widely accepted. Spring is once again upon us and with warmer weather comes the annual Dick's Ditch Banked Slalom race held at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

Snowboarders and skiers alike braved the gnarly course full of challenging gates, board chattering banked turns, and massive jumps. The course is not for the faint of heart. With the mentality of 'loose is fast' competitors bomb down the course hoping for a top time, that is if they can stay in one piece. The course snakes down Amphitheater covering a distance of over a half mile and 1000 vertical feet. It can easily be viewed from Amphitheater or the Marmot lift, but if you want to see all the high flying action one must head to the finish line. At the final gate, athletes send it off of the large kicker throwing backflips, huge methods, and even some spread eagles.

A collection of rowdy ski and snowboard competitors combined with a gnarly course makes for quite the spectacle known as the Dick's Ditch Banked Slalom. It's a must see event.
