Awesome! Sick pics......Had a friend out there helping with patrol wonder if he tagged those stickers
"Oh this isn't Russia Danny, is this Russia"
Hey, don't want to crash your party but figured we're better off putting all information together.
Here's two files which open in Google Earth to show waypoints and routes recorded with GPS over a few days this season. The bowl names (as taken from the mountain 'piste map' photo) are in, as is Monkey Hill, various routes down to the lower villages and a pretty accurate map of the road up to Gulmarg.
This is by no means exhaustive, and the tracklogs' colours are not intended as a grading system - hopefully it might prove useful to someone in giving an idea of what is possible out there.
Cheers, Sam

I was using a Garmin eTrex Summit. Not the most advanced model, and actually getting satellite reception was very hit-and-miss. I guess when you are on one side of a mountain you exclude 1/2 the sky, in theory. Anyway, it only worked on clear days and I then used the $20 version of Google earth to pull off the tracklogs and waypoints.
p.s If you need the ski patrol map, email me at samsmith_ndt@hotmail.com as the image is too detailed to compress for this page. Ski patrol map is courtesy of Brian Newman, head avi patroller and guardian angel to all of us who don't have a clue, but realise that we do...

So when do we get to see parts 2 and 3?
same GPS i was using with no luck. I only got it to work once the entire time i was there. Good work getting yours to function though
I have copies of all the ski patrol maps. Brian and James did a great job this entire year.
i just moved back to california to go back to school and am in the process of unpacking/registering for classes etc. Since all that shit sucks a nut, ill probably procrastinate and post part 2 tomorrow or Tuesday.
I have been waiting for this TR for so long
so awesome, can't wait to read more.
Hey MCR:
Great TR - looking forward to part 3!
It's too easy - That dude is Raja, who has a place called (duh) "Raja's Place"! Big fatties consumed there. Great tea as well the cheapest place in town.
See you there next year again?
PS: There are now sticks from Bolton Valley, Jay Peak, and the Full Tank headshop (Burlington, VT) adorning this Raja's Place.
Nice shots, that place is on my list of places to go someday.
AND bumping something cool to the top.
Yes!
Hey Mcroon, absolutely great trip report!
For those interested in organising a trip take a look at this blog which has lots of the information one needs.
Hope to see you back a green heights next year!
