    fear,
yes the hammock is strictly for pow.......
reverse camber, 160 length, it feels so sweet and has serious pop...

a friend who does some heli guiding in Haines has been riding on some similarly shaped/cambered skis and feels it will be the industry standard for skis/boards for big mtn pow riding within 5 yrs....(paging Ted Shred for your input here...) ....i cant wait to test it tomorrow!!

i think the trs 159 banana/magnetraction is probably the best board out there right now, a perfect repacement for your emma....

magne traction is the shit for variable conditions...im not sure how mervin mfgs patent will affect that sort of edge by other manufacturers....

libs have never done me wrong
    the future is bananas!

Talked to a dude on a Skate Banana and he said he won't go back to a normal board. Looked pretty rockin. I will have to try one when I can get the chance.

I saw a couple of guys on those the other day, I'm reserving my judgement.

Their comments were, "It really holds an edge on the ice." Well that's just great but we don't have any ice.

I still like my Burton Fish. Haven't found anything that will float as well in the deep pow and still turn that quick in tight trees.

I would agree with that, ever since the spats arrived on the scene every year I see more and more reverse camber ski's and they seem to be growing larger (if the pontoons get any bigger we may need bigger baskets). They help the rippers rip harder and the beaters can actually get down the hill.

I have not had the opportunity to ride a reverse camber snowboard yet, but I want too. 2 years ago Travis Rice was in town with Absinthe riding the proto type for that board you have, and believe it or not he was RIPPING, big surprise I know. He said he was in love with it in the pow, and I imagine switch pow riding will be taken to completely different levels in the near future.

    Have fun testing it out!

Depends on how big you are.

I was checking that board out at a shop last week. Pretty interesting, if I have to endure another season on the ice coast, I think I am going to look into magnetraction.

I sold last years Litigator (non-mtx) to pick up a Skunk Ape 172 (since I felt the Skate Banana might be a little small for my 6'3"/220# frame) and have since heard that next year they will be producing bigger boards with banana-traction. Oh Lib Tech, why doest thou tempt me so?

I looked in to them as wel, but living in Pa I have no use for it. Maybe when i make a move out west Ill pick on up.

Does anyone know how the fell of this is compared to the feel of a wakeboard?

It all looks like sick tech. They can be tricky to get out here in europe.

I managed to get hold of one of the 06 volkl selectas for pow; have not had chance to use it yet (roll on kashmir) but it seems this design's now being phased ut in favour of the banana shape.

K2 are using the reverse-camber for an all-mtn board as well; does this now mean that all ski-cambered boards are now officially shite?

    3/3/08 update!

DAMN THIS BOARD IS THE FUNEST SICKEST POWDER BOARD I'VE EVER RIDDEN!!!!!!!!

Flat light, no pics, but IMO this board gives you full PWNERSHIP of the powpow

you cant get the nose to dive! it floats insane as its a 160 and im 6 1 190 normal board is 173 skunkape, and this thing just floated me like a wakeboard

absolutely zero feeling of an edge catch tip or tail

i did hit our packed out loading zone at speed and could not control it satisfactory!! lol!

it was definitely a very very good feeling after the first run it was just sick as fuck i was fucking stoked!!!!

fwiw...pow was 16~20" of fluff in the alders,,,this thing turned on a dime with no edge washout at all

the regular banana tech boards are going to rule the industry.....

    pics as soon as possible..

This weekend will be the first day for me on mine (been working like a mofo). The skate banana is my normal weapon of choice right now, but I have been waiting to get my banana hammock into the pow. weather looks perfect for this weekend with 20" of fluff coming our way.

This picture is to show how wide it is in the center...

This picture shows the reverse camber a little if you look at the shadows and the nose...

I would agree with that. I was compelled to pick up a 159 Skate Banana at the beginning of the season, and think I may have already purchased my last cambered snowboard. I can't think of any reason to go back.

When I was out in CO I could not believe how many banana skates I saw out. Everyone was stoked on them. It looks like they are already starting to take over.

Any bets on how fast Burton puts out a "late release" version of their own?

Nice Union bindings on your 'nanners!

Gotta agree though, Lib´s banana tech is pretty fucking hilarious. Only tried the Skate though, but that thing just ripped. getting more and more interested in getting the Hammock if I´ll ever find one.

Demoed the K2 Gyrator, by the way?

Arild: They have the Hammock at Seasport in Oslo, or more specifically, they had it a month ago, so it might be gone by now.

    Day#1:
It was warm Friday night, so the snow was a WET and heavy 14". Not your standard Teton coolwhip, but fun none-the-less. I got two early runs in Saratoga Bowl, and called it quits because I had to work.

Anyway, this board is the sickness!

    Pros:
This board just does not sink at all. When on steeper areas the tail drops right down like a pin tail, sticking the nose way out and it is an effortless "float" down the line.

Even at 160 the board is nimble but floats through anything. Some of my friend who swear by god awfully long boards... I bet I could throw anyone of them on this board in the fluff and they would be giggling like a little school girl.

No more leaning way back just to keep the nose afloat.

It rides equally nice switch. I was AMAZED at how effortless this thing was to ride switch and especially land switch.

Because of the design, you can have your bindings mounted dead center and ride the mofo like a freestyle stick. No more leaning way back just to keep the nose afloat and like I said before, switch is a non-issue.

This board has pop for days even though it is pretty damn buttery all around. Not that you so much need it on a pow stick but it adds a nice feel for the board. Hammering down, you feel like you are trampolining down the run from pillow to pillow.

    Cons:
It was unstable on groomed runs and traverses. The main problem was trying to go fast enough but stay in control on the traverse. Mofo's around here don't like slow people on board wide traverses through the trees. I felt mainly in control but was uncomfortable for sure. You really have to ride this thing like a surf board and make slashy, skiddy turns. There is no such thing as carving on this stick.

    Day#2:
We didn't get was expected last night. We got 8 inches total but only 2 of those were after lifts closed yesterday so the conditions were a little manky. everything was moguled up but it was a wet snow so it slid ok.

I am controlling it mucho better on the grooms. You have to act like someone who is learning and skid your turns. If you lean and try to carve you just continue to lean and fall over. I think I have crashed more in the last two days on groomer traverses than I have crashed period in years. Anything that has depth is fine, but packed snow isn't ideal.

    Conclusion:
I honestly feel, even after only two days and the fact I was riding heavy, manky "powder" I don't think I want to ride a conventional shape in the powder again.

The reverse camber is nothing new because I have been riding the skate banana, but the reverse sidecut just blew me away. It was an entirely different way to ride... and I'm converted!

Now I just have to figure out how to get back to the lift w/o eating all kinds of shit.
