Surfing the Blood Eagle in TGR and Outside TV’s A Life in Proximity

In Episode 2 of Teton Gravity Research and Outside TV’s “A Life in Proximity,” Shane Dorian and Albee Layer lay eyes on one of the gnarliest waves either of them have ever ridden. A reference to an ancient Viking torture method and the rugged environment around them, the surfers name the shallow reef break the “Blood Eagle.”

The rocky coast of Scotland is not where most surfers would travel in search of good waves, but Dorian and Layer have come here specifically to push their limits, risking serious injury or worse to catch that ultimate wave.
