A significant Nor Easter is aimed at the entire Northeast (including the metro areas). Snow will begin along the mid-Atlantic today and move into the metro areas of New York tonight. Currently, 1600 flights have been canceled so if you're flying tonight you will not get there. New England scores deep powder late AM Tuesday through Wednesday morning. It will be impossible to get skunked this week in the Northeast!

Models are trending further west with the current storm moving up the East Coast. The Euro has the highest amounts with 10-20 inches inland into Vermont and the Adirondacks. The GFS has caught up somewhat pushing moderate to heavy snow into the Champlain Valley of Vermont (9-14) and 11-18 inches from the Conway area up through most of Maine. 

The NAM shows higher amounts over central and northern Vermont. With some model variance, the “take home” is that double digits will be falling pretty much everywhere in New England early this week. I am leaning somewhat towards the GFS where heavier snow may fall over central Vermont and New Hampshire versus the northern areas.

Regardless of the outcome, you will score the White Room by late Tuesday and early Wednesday. Northern Maine might score best Tuesday night into Wednesday so if you score powder Tuesday (Storm ski) you might chase to Maine for Wednesday. Boston and resorts just West of the City might come out winners by late Tuesday!

The models show 10-17 inches in the NY metro area through Tuesday night. Cape Cod may get spared somewhat as moisture pushes inland over Boston and edges up into the Berkshires by Tuesday morning. Chase to the Berkshires or southern New Hampshire Tuesday followed by chases to the north for Wednesday morning (Sunday River, Stowe, Sugarloaf) and perhaps even North Conway where steady snow will be falling from 10 AM Tuesday through midnight. 

It’s possible that 7-10 inches will have fallen in many areas of central New England by last chair Tuesday. Another 6-10 inches is Likely for 1st chair Wednesday! Both late Tuesday and early Wednesday will be good powder days! Total snowfall will range from 11-17 inches in central and northern Vermont, 12-20 inches from Conway towards most of central and northern Maine. Winds may impact lift operations especially late Tuesday.

Snow showers will continue in New England through late Wednesday or early Thursday.

Light snow is likely in southern New England by the weekend however amounts will not be significant.

A cold front drags some light or moderate snowfall over Idaho and the Tetons mid-week. The trend for the West is for continued moisture for the Pacific Northwest. There are signals on the models that colder air will filter down into the Cascades late this week. That might drag East over the northern Rockies.
