Whistler Blackcomb Official Opening Day Festivities

After a week that brought us close to 70cm (27 inches) of fresh snow, Whistler Mountain opened for the season early on Friday November 19th.   Skiers and riders lined up - some as early as the night before - all in the hope of getting first tracks down the mountain.  To cap off the celebration, local Maelle Ricker, who won gold in snowboard cross at the 2010 Winter Games, received a lifetime season pass from Whistler Blackcomb and “first ride up” the Whistler Village Gondola.
