Was Utah Hiker Kidnapped to Tutor North Korea Leader?

The Salt Lake Tribune's bringing us some interesting news.

12 years ago, 24-year-old Brigham Young University student, David Sneddon, set out on a solo hike in the mountains of China’s Yunnan Province. What he didn’t know is what the trail had in store for him: a future held captive in North Korea.

When Sneddon went missing, China theorized he had fallen to his death in Tiger Leaping Gorge. The thing is, a dozen eyewitnesses claim to have seen and/or interacted with the former missionary more than 70 miles beyond the gorge, having safely traversed it.

Recent developments warrant everyone’s suspicions. It seems Sneddon never fell. He’s not dead. Instead, an article posted to Yahoo Japan claims now 36-year-old was kidnapped and smuggled to North Korea to be leader Kim Jong-un’s personal tutor.

Sneddon’s parents told the Tribune they’ve known all along their son’s alive. They’re also not surprised he’s said to have a Korean wife and two kids. It seems a Japanese woman who had also been abducted by North Korea told them years ago that when you’re captured, you’re given a wife, so that you have kids, settle down, and accordingly give them your best, whatever that may mean.

An investigation is underway. In the meantime, check out the case summary, and then learn how you can help bring him home
