Taj Burrow Has Settled into Retirement Well

When Taj Burrow called it quits from the WSL Championship Tour in 2016, the world of competitive surfing lost a luminary. Burrow is likely the best surfer to never win be a world champion, is responsible for one of the best surf films of all-time (Montaj) and is considered by most all who encounter him to be–as the Aussies would say–a top bloke.

While Burrow's absence on tour has been notable, the 40-year-old Western Australia native has apparently kept himself pretty busy. He's launched his Honest Ale brewery, he's spending plenty of time with his beautiful wife and adorable daughter, and in between all of that, he still finds some time to get in the water.

Globe's latest edit "THE CULT OF FREEDOM: The Taj Part" shows that the old man hasn't lost a step, as Burrow channels all of turn-of-the-century brilliance, tearing the roof off a collection of beautiful turquoise tubes in the Mentawais. Burrow recently blew up his ACL and will be on the mend for the foreseeable future, but here's to hoping he comes back strong as ever.
