Surfing the Pineapple Express in Montana

The Pineapple Express is a ploom of moisture that heads from the from the West Coast and drops its contents on the Montana area. For river people watching the weather is a daily habit, rain forecasts are scoured, USGS gauges are checked for the chance to see our favorite streams and creeks rise. No one knows this better then Genki Kino, a meteorologist for the national weather service in Missoula. Kino was raised surfing in Hawaii and thought he would have to trade in his surfboard when he moved to the mountains. Little did he know that he would discover a vibrant surf community in his new home.
